Does anyone know why the microphone is on the left ear only?

Just tried to switch mine and it did not work.

Why can't I hear myself talk through the headphones?

Make sure you have set your audio settings for input and output for the headphones and mic accordingly. Also make sure your volume settings are not set to a very low option.
