What steel does it use?

Unidentified stainless steel. Well made but obviously not a high grade steel (or Gerber would proudly proclaim it on the package). Still useful but will probably need more frequent sharpening.

Where is this product made ?

This product is made in China but it is not true that all their products are made there. I have a Gerber mini covert auto and it is definitely made in USA.

What steel is used for the regular versafix (not the pro)? I see the pro is stainless.

It’s the same stainless steel used on the pro. The only difference being the pro has the cutouts to reduce weight and improve balance.

Before You use this Machete for the first time.....

Before you use this for the first time, clean the blade with Goo-Gone or WD-40. Then sharpen the blade as it comes from the factory not nearly as sharp as it could be. I used mine yesterday on very tall and thick bamboo and worked great after sharpening and since its stainless it held the edge very well. Regular machetes would have bent also and this is thick enough not to bend on you.

Great quality still on the larger size

Exactly what I thought it would be great quality, sharp nice saw. The only thing is it truly not that compact it is still pretty decent size may be uncomfortable wearing on a belt.
