YoLink Weatherproof Fluid, Air, Surface Extreme High/Low Temperature Sensor with Probe, 1/4 Mile Long Range, YoLink Hub Required

Getting reliable and accurate pool water temperature seems easy but most thermometers, especially digital ones are not very accurate or not calibrated properly from factory. In an effort to ensure the most accurate readings I’ve used multiple analog (alcohol and even mercury) thermometers with varying degrees of success. Getting all thermometers to agree seems impossible while most of the good ones do come very close to each other. Now using analog ones is great since they never need calibration, however they are not practical as you have to go to them rather than get remote readings, and of course there is no historical data. In my case I wanted accurate remote readings often and nothing floating around in the pool, so I took advantage of a water pit in the pool concrete deck, and installed multiple temperature sensors in the same spot and begun testing and gathering temperature data. Before getting the YoLink LoRa Temperature Sensor YS8014 X3 I had both several Aqara and YoLink YS8004 sensors. I had some connectivity issues with the other brands due to the “underground” location, however all the YoLink sensors connected perfectly and quickly, so I narrowed down my options to YoLink. While all YoLink sensors seemed to work very well, I was curious to see how much better the new YS8014 X3 sensor was and how it compared to the others. While the end results proved that all sensors were very close to each other, I really liked that the new YS8014 X3 allows for more samples more often, as low as 1 minute and as long as 1h. Interestingly 1h is the norm with most such sensors. The YS8014 X3 also has a convenient LCD display that will also automatically turn off at your choice timeout to save batter life. Just like the other YoLink temperature sensors the YS8014 X3 uses easily replaceable batteries but now there is a 2y and 5y battery option at purchase, so more flexibility and longer battery life overall. It also saves temperature data internally in case the hub us off-line then sends it once it re-connects so no data is lost! I will end up keeping the YoLink YS8014 X3 sensor in the pool water pit and move the others to my kitchen refrigerator and garage fridge, to keep an eye on them and get alerts should the cooling stop. I lost a full fridge of items a while ago due to a failure of the garage fridge, and at the time I had no sensor to monitor the inside as all I tried could not communicate from inside the fridge, except YoLink! Anyway, I am very pleased with ALL the YoLInk temperature sensors and would certainly recommend them for almost any need given the flexibility features, great support services and long range LoRa technology.

This is probably the single best purchase I've made for my pool. Does exactly what it is supposed to do, accurate, easily connects and syncs with wifi/app, and gives me data trends which I love. Phenomenal product, I would repurchase 10 times over but the beautiful thing I don't have to!! Battery life is still going strong 2 years in! Couldn't be happier.

In this age of cheap Chinese garbage, Amazon junk listings, fly-by-night companies, and generally low quality products, it was a REAL TREAT to come across this company and its products. In fact, this product exceeded my expectations by so much that I was half-expecting something terrible to happen, like it bursting on fire or something similar. Firstly, every one of the products I bought, (shut-off valve, hub, 3 water leak sensors, 2 outdoor temp sensors for freezers, and 2 indoor temp sensors for environmental control), are SOLIDLY MADE. You can feel it in your hand, and it's a feeling that's getting rarer and rarer these days for consumer goods. They're well-made and just SOLID, with absolutely nothing feeling cheap at all. All of the devices went into my freezers, attic, and garage without issue. When I got to the software, that's where I really expected there to be problems, since many of these "smart" companies aren't very smart at all, and they don't seem to test their apps for user-friendliness before releasing them. However I was amazed at how simple it all really was. Getting the hub online, adding devices to it, creating rooms, configuring alarms, etc, all of it was quick and absolutely painless. The only real quibble I could have, (and it isn't much of one at all), is that the alarm section took a moment to figure out. But within a ridiculously short time I had all the devices added and their operating parameters set. Perhaps another helpful note - when you turn on a device for the first time, give it a full minute to link up to the hub. If you don't, the device will add to the hub but it will show as offline, and won't appear to ever come online. After doing that twice, (adding the device within a few seconds of turning it on), I then waited a few for the rest and they added without issue. All of my testing, (temperatures turning on fans and heaters, water leaks activating the valve, etc), all passed with flying colors. All in all, this just feels like money well spent, and YoLink has become one of my favorite companies. Highly recommend.

Best I could find but not perfect. Would be better to have faster app temperature update intervals (5 minutes would be fine instead of 30). Or at least it should update when I'm looking at the app. A backlight on it would be nice too, activated for 10 seconds by a motion sensor. Also would be better if the device itself had a beep of some kind so I know alert temperatures have been reached. I don't want the yolink siren or another echo device for the alarm. The alert phone notifications work (even with phone asleep) but what if my phone is muted or battery dies, or I'm asleep and my phone is in another room? Also on Alexa it only shows Celsius, no option for Farenheit. Overall the device works well enough and as intended, just hoped for more. I don't mind changing the battery every 6 months or so. No need for 5 year battery.

This Yolink smart X3 outdoor temperature sensor is just what I was looking for. I needed a way to see the water temperature of my outdoor wood furnace with out going outside to check on it. The best thing about this device is the long range Wi-Fi that Yolink is known for. I have several Yolink devices that don't disappoint and neither does this remote temperature device. The probe is a nice length and the display is clear and easy to read. The app is super easy to install and navigate. The only CON I would give this device is that you cannot update the temperature on your phone, on demand. Sometimes it updated immediately upon opening the app and other times it could take 10 minutes. It would be nice if you could poll the device to update actual temp on demand.

I purchased and installed this on a small anchor a mostly hidden feature wall on my in-ground swimming pool. The box sits above the water level, hanging about 8 inches above the top edge of the pool surround, with the wire hanging down into the water. It tracks the pool temperature on an hourly basis, allowing me to see how the pool's temperature is swinging throughout the days. With the amazing range of the YoLink LoRa communication protocol, this thing has NO problems remaining connected with the YoLink hub that's on the other end of the house, on the second floor, in a closet. Beyond working great for tracking water temperature, this unit has proven quite durable and waterproof, surviving deluge level water, including the recent Hurrican Beryl, with no issues (and nicely tracked the roughly 10 deg. F drop in average water temperature brought about by the hurricane). The only downside is the continued requirement that all YoLink devices must have an Internet connection. This sensor will store values when the Internet is unavailable, and then transmit them when the connection is restored, but it would be nice if YoLink would come out with a solution that allows fully local sensor tracking.

This temperature monitoring system software failed when our deep freezer compressor stopped working. The system sent one high temp alarm notification at 5 degrees and never sent another notice that the temperature continued to raise to 70+ degrees. Over 7 days the freezer temp increased and the software shows all the temperatures logged by the sensor on the app, but no further notification was sent to me letting me know of the continued temperature raise. This is the only reason we purchased this system because of the alert system, unfortunately I was not aware it is not programmed to alert you after one alert is sent. The entire freezer contents around $1,000 worth of food were found because we opened the door to remove food and found the contents to be completely thawed, spoiled and had to be disposed of. I notified the company regarding this software/equipment problem, and they said this is how their equipment works, and the alarm software and equipment worked properly. There was NO compensation for the food loss and was told "Sorry" when I contacted the company letting them know of this equipment and software failure. I requested some food loss reimbursement since I have all the logs showing the system was aware of the temperatures and I was informed if they covered food loss for everyone they would be out of business. That says the company knows they have a problem with their products failing and still are happy to sell them with the loss being placed on you. I DO NOT recommend this product. I would NEVER use this product ever again and have replaced my system with a ThermoWorks Node product.

Bought for my freezer.. works like a charm!!

Sensor and hub work brilliantly, easy setup, excellent range and battery life. Integrates with home assistant easily and YoLink app works well. Unfortunately US and UK devices are incompatible, which wasn't mentioned before purchase, so importing YoLink from Amazon US is best avoided. Sadly it appears a UK/EU version of the weatherproof temperature sensor isn't available yet.

The photos show an outdoor YoLink temp sensor with probe being used to check temperature of compost and send alert when temp reaches 150 degrees F. It has worked for this application flawlessly since the end of May. Note that the thermo well and the black connection housing have been supplied by us and allows the probe to be inserted into the compost with little effort. One of the photos shows a monthly readout of temperatures. For anyone looking for a very reliable reporting device for compost or soil temperature this could be what you need. I plan to add many other YoLink sensors over time and eventually replace at least part of our security system especially in buildings that are constantly losing connection with our panel. I highly recommend YoLink products for ease of setup and their ability to work when beyond communication range of many other sensors.
