Great price for a great product.
I have longed considered buying a security camera and recently when there was a case of extreme vandalism in our block of apartments I felt now was the time. I got this at a great price. One imagines that this model is being replaced with a newer version and so the pricing piunnt made it a no brainier. The delivery was speedy the charging of the removeable battery not so. It took about 6 hours of charging to get it fully charged. I went for the Ring door bell with the chime unit. Once charged installation and pairing with home WiFi and mobile phone is a breeze with each product having a QR code to scan and this makes the set up process straightforward. Nearly everything you need to install the Ring doorbell is included. Unfortunately the attachment plates included are designed for an angular installation, whether at a side angle or an upward or downward gradient angle. Nothing straight on. Given the design of the door and its surround neither of these were workable options. So have one that fits to the door without drilling or screwing the plate in, I need to purchase a No Drill Mounting Plate, that sits level with the flat with the door. This was an additional cost. However, once all components arrived I easily installed the video door bell. The image quality is excellent both day and night. The motion detection is great and the pairing the bell with the chime and my Alexa based products ensures that I never miss a caller or, if nosey, snooping on someone moving around on the landing! I am also impressed with the quality of the audio. Indeed since installing and displaying the enclosed Ring Video symbol a few other neighbours have enquired about the quality of the product, which I have happily showed them. The postioning of the bell ensures all areas of the stairs, landing and neighbours doors are covered. I also paid for an additional annual subscription to ensure that video can be stored. However, I do delete all daily images caught that serve no other purpose than a record of people visiting neighbours and the deliveries to either mine or my neighbours properties. Happy with my purchase. Certainly it increases ones peace of mind.

Excellent, but expensive
I got this for my new home. I've had no issues with it, love it in fact. It has infrared lights that activate when it detects motion then sends you a notification with a screenshot and saves a video clip automatically. I would advise to go in to the settings on the ring app and change the motion detection to people only and the detection zone to exclude the road, otherwise you will get false alerts every time a car passes. You can change the ringtone on your phone too if you're sick of hearing the typical ring jingle from the adverts on TV. While you can change the ringtone of the notifications on your phone, you can't change it on the device itself for the people ringing the bell. Not essential but would be nice to have that customisable too. Wifi signal is weak, but good enough to function. I have my ring on the outside of my porch and the router in the updates window on the same side of the house. The WiFi signal should be good but it has a constant alert on the app saying it has a weak signal and advertising their WiFi booster. Could be a marketing ploy though as in reality it works fine and I can stream HD video without issue. There was one day when Ring's servers went down. When that happens you essentially have no doorbell and no motion detection, which is annoying especially if you're expecting a delivery. The outage was a few hours. It come with various adapters to angle the device on the wall, for if your property has steps or you're mounting it in a corner. Very handy. It also comes with a security screw and screwdriver so thrived can't take the facade off and unscrew from the wall. (The small screwdriver that's included take off the end and turn it around, you will have two tiny screes that fit that fitting). As Ring is owned by Amazon it works seamlessly with Alexa. I've connected my to an Amazon Echo Show (he assistant with the screen) and it sends notifications to the show I can access the video feed from the show, and I can have two way calls from the show too. I can do most things on the Alexa Show that I can do on my phone in the app, except I can't access previous video clips - I have to go in to the app on my phone for that. Battery life is good. I charged it for several hours first time and it's on around 70% now, a few weeks later. I will consider getting the solor panel next so I don't have to bother charging it. It's an expensive buy. 150 quid for essentially a door bell with a security camera. There are other brands but they might not be as good.

A good device but expensive... and you'll have to buy a couple more things to complement it!
SUMMARY The Ring Video Doorbell 3 is a very good device and delivers on the expectations. However, it is expensive by itself and actually needs at least another two accessories to be fully useful: an extra battery pack and the “Chime” device. You also need a subscription service to watch the recordings after the initial 30-day trial period. INSTALLATION The box comes with everything you need: * simple instructions (very visual - “IKEA-like”) * all the mounts and screws * tools for physical installation such as the drill bit, a mini-level and even a Ring-branded Phillips driver The installation actually begins with downloading the app to your phone. It is easy to set up the device as it has a QR code on the back that you simply scan to pair with your phone and set up the Wi-Fi configuration. HIGHLIGHTS * Motion detection works great * You can adjust its sensitivity * You can define the detection zone * There is now a mode to only detect people. Very useful! * The app has loads of functionality and works well (although I can see it may get a little overwhelming to some people - several configuration options!) * It integrates with other home security devices. The app can become a controller of your entire security. There are different modes to choose and enable/disable equivalent cameras and alarm systems according to requirements. e.g.: if you are at home, change it to a mode where all indoor cameras are off (for privacy). If you are away, change it to a mode where all cameras are on and alarms are set. LOWLIGHTS * You have to spend some time adjusting motion sensitivity and area. I think this is the main reason for the poor reviews: without adjusting it to your environment, you’ll end up having too many false positives and drain your battery * You will need a separate device (a Ring "Chime”) if you want the doorbell noise inside your house. And of course, you do, right? It should come as standard! (you can buy it as a kit/bundle - which I recommend!) * You’ll need to monitor the Doorbell’s battery life * It is easy to remove and rechargeable via a micro-USB port * You can buy a spare battery and quickly swap it... * … or install a solar charger from Ring. (although at time of writing this review, a solar charger for the Video Doorbell 3 isn’t available for purchase) * After the initial 30 days period you have to purchase a “Ring Protect” subscription (starting from £2.50/month) to be able to see your video recordings Overall this is a powerful device. But depending on what you need, there are more cost-effective alternatives out there.

Easy to install, easy to use, good quality
I was provided with a unit for review, but even saying that, it's been a great experience! I had a Ring doorbell 2 already, which has been seeing lots of work in the past few months with all the deliveries that we are receiving due to the UK lockdown. It's great being able to get doorbell alerts on whatever Echo devices you might have in the house, on your phone and even to be able to see the front door from an Echo Show. The Ring Doorbell 3 is a direct replacement for the 2. It fits in the same holes that are drilled for the 2, and works the same way. To be honest there's not much difference between them - the 3 has a few newer features which I don't think will be much use to me personally. The device is beautifully packaged - it's like getting an iPhone out of the box. Everything is nicely packaged and labelled and very easy to identify what you need and which bits are extra or "just in case". The tools you need (except for a drill, but a drill bit is!) are all included and are good quality. Setting up the device is a breeze in the app, it took about 20-30 minutes for the device to update when I first put in the battery and connected it, but after that it's been on constantly with no issues. The movement detection and verification works brilliantly, most frequently picking up cats wandering past our front door! We have a road outside our front door and it's good to be able to set both exclusion zones and to change the range of the detection zone to avoid passing cars triggering recording. I really like the Ring Doorbell 3, if you want a video doorbell and you've got a wifi signal near your door, I recommend it!

A very good device but things you need to know before buying.
1) Video quality is good but I wouldn't go as far as to say excellent. 2) you MUST have a very strong Wi-Fi signal or live view will not work and to put this into perspective my router is about 8 feet away from the front door and it still wasn't strong enough. This could be to do with the Sky routers being not that great but worth knowing none the less. The other this to bear in mind if you are on Sky Q and have multiple mini boxes they act as a mesh network, the door bell will then roam between the boxes and this can make the signal week too so what is advised by Ring is they are put on there own Wi-Fi extender. To be fair to Ring they supplied me with a Ring Chime Pro at no cost but then i had just sunk over £500 on ring products. This then acts as a wifi extender and will put all devices in range on this network. Its a very good item but i would have been very annoyed if i had to have purchased this myself. 3) Ring customer support are very helpful but i would have just preferred for it to all work out of the box without the need to contact then at all. 4) SUBSCRIPTION, This maybe my own oversight but I was under the impression that it would be £25 for the base subscription but its £25 per device for the base subscription, as i have 3 devices this then put me into the £80 a year category where you can have as many devices as you want if you want access to all the feature that make having these devices worthwhile. Again i may have thought twice about these products had i fully understood this before taking the plunge.

Doesn't always work
Initial review: Installation was really easy with different attachments for different camera angles. The battery took about 8 hours to charge, which I thought was quite a long charge time but I am presuming that the battery does not have to be charged too often. Picture quality is really clear. I was able to test the answer function to the postman whilst at work the other day and that worked really well. The sound quality is really good, I was able to leave him my instructions with ease. The price is not bad as this item is a good quality piece of equipment however you will need a chime also. I dont feel that I could have this on my android phone app alone, as my phone could be in one room and I am in another and wouldn't hear the notification. The motion detection goes of all the time but this can be changed in the settings. I have kept my settings as default as it is nice to know it is being recorded if someone was approaching the house. Update: I have recently had 2 times when I have had parcels delivered to my doorstep and the Ring 3 did not work at all. No motion detection or ring alert. When I went back to check the footage it was unavailable. The motion section is also quite slow. My husband came home the other day and was in the house before it even went notified me

Great device but don’t recommend due to high subscription fee they now charge
Great device. It’s done the job but I think I will buy a different brand soon as Ring now charge an extortionate subscription fee

Still early days...but!
We have had a conventional wireless doorbell for ages, but we fancied getting one of these to improve our security and allow us to see callers and remotely abuse delivery drivers, etc :-). It was relatively easy to get a basic setup done, and we also bought a Ring chime too, which was also fairly easily setup. I was amazed how big the Ring 3 doorbell is, which was my own fault for not looking at the dimensions. We also bought a Ring solar panel to recharge the doorbell rather than keep taking the battery out and recharging it. Once the doorbell is pushed we now have our three Echo shows announcing visitors as well as the chime, so we are unlikely to be unaware of visitors, to say the least. I have not yet connected the solar panel, but will certainly report further when I do, particularly as there isn't abundant sunshine in October. I have ordered some small self-tapping screws to attach it to our UPVC door frame as sticking it on with double-sided tape seemed a bit lax. It certainly functions when held in its intended location, so far so good. UPDATE: For some reason on day three when I visited the Ring app, it implied that I had yet to set up my devices, which I had already done. However, a couple of days later everything is magically functioning as it should again. Fixing the Ring to our UPVC door was fairly straightforward, apart from the fact that I got some cheap and nasty Chinese self-tapping screws to fix it on and the quality of their Phillips heads on the screws was screws dreadful and resulted in the Phillips heads getting chewed up (buy cheap, buy twice). FURTHER UPDATE: The solar panel is now connected and over the course of a few days, got the doorbell camera to 97% charge, a couple of sunny days and several overcast ones. I have fiddled around in the app and we now get the chime chirruping when somebody approaches the door, before they have even pressed the bell push. FURTHER, FURTHER UPDATE: I originaly bought some very cheap and nasty Chinese screws to attach the bell to our door frame (it's complicated). However the screws were not up to the job, to say the least! So, I bought a stick on mount, which is much better. Since November powered by the solar panel, I don't think the battery level has ever dropped below 82% and now as we approach summer it is consistently way over 90% even after a few cloudy days. I have read several reviews which mention the bell's poor WiFi range, I have not had the slightest problem with this, even though it is about 25 metres from the router, with several walls between.
