It is so comforting
My daughter watches Call the Midwife and apparently this drink is mentioned as a soothing and good-for-you drink given to women after giving birth. We discovered it is a lovely and soothing drink after a hard day to help you sleep. I am sold and will always have it in my pantry.

Great Taste
This is a great tasting hot drink. It is not chocolate base like Milo or ovaltine. When added to milk the color of the milk barely changes. It gives the milk a smooth texture and a creamy taste. I mix 2 tbs with warm milk, sometimes I use sugar and sometime I don't. Without sugar added it still has a good taste. The only thing is the 300g container is very small I was expecting something a little bigger for $10. If I knew 300g was so small in size I would have order the larger size. Here is the Nutritional fact base on 1 serving 25gCalories 189Sodium 1 mgTotal Fat 4 gPotassium 0 mgSaturated 3 gTotal Carbs 27 gPolyunsaturated 0 gDietary Fiber 0 gMonounsaturated 0 gSugars 19 gTrans 0 gProtein 10 gCholesterol 0 mgVitamin A 36%Calcium 88%Vitamin C 28%Iron 19%

The taste is different. Description in comment.
Not bad, just not my cup of tea...or in this case Malt lol. It has a warm leftover cornflake milk taste. We ordered it because of Call The Midwife TV show and assumed it was a hot chocolate. It's not. I put a little cocoa powder in another cup, because I'm not going to let it go to waste.

Delivers the malt taste I remember as a kid
The Horlicks Drinking Powder adds an outstanding malted flavor to milk and malted milkshakes. I bought this to recapture the taste I remember of childhood malts (the warm version wasn't part of my experience) and the candy malt tablets that Horlicks made when I was a kid. This stuff delivered! I've tried some other brands of malt powder and they didn't seem to have the right kind of malt flavor any more (I'm talking to you, Carnation).... and forget about crushing malted milk balls to add to a drink.Adding a bit of water to the powder to make a paste at the bottom of the glass or cup really helps avoid lumping, but if you use a high speed blender it doesn't matter. Never occurred to me to add sugar and if you add a syrup it's unlikely added sugar is needed.

Delicious (and sleep-inducing)
This is the real stuff: nothing like the fakey "80% sugar, 20% malt extract" malt powder available in the US. It's delicious when added to hot milk, a milkshake, or other desserts. It's very comforting and the first time I tried it, I fell asleep for 3 hours in the middle of the evening, so there must be something to the 'helps you sleep' hype! I made a vanilla milkshake recently with this and it was a wonderful addition. When added to hot milk, I usually add a teaspoon or so of sugar to sweeten it slightly. My only suggestion is to get a larger amount if you plan on using it often: I decided on this instead of the two-pack of 500g jars for price reasons, but I didn't realize it would require a tablespoon per cup, and much more for milkshakes.

Different night time drink
I'm glad I tried it. I had seen it on a British tv show and thought it would be interesting to try. I tried it once and did not finish the cup because it got cold. Thought would give it a second chance and tried again. It does not taste bad, but I didn't finish that cup either. My friend tried it and she enjoyed it.I thought of putting some chocolate in it, but ended up giving it away to someone with British friends. It is kind of like warm milk with some texture. You might like it. All a matter of personal taste.

Ideal for a Chocolate Malt
This is a premier product, although pricey with shipping added in, for making a outstanding chocolate malt. I think that it is far superior to the typical products one finds on grocer shelves. My recipe for a Malt for 1 person is 1/2 pint chocolate or vanilla ice cream, 1/2 cup milk, 2 Tbs Horlicks Drinking Powder, and 2 Tbs chocolate syrup. Mix in a blender. Adjust as you see fit..... There are many recipes on the web.I also made a hot chocolate malt at breakfast one morning. I used 1 Tb Horlicks Drinking Powder, 3/4 cup of warm milk, and 1 Tb chocolate syrup. That also was good.Again if you love malt this product is an excellent choice.

I don't know who is drinking this stuff in England
I ordered this stuff because I used to like malt tablets as a kid. I was hoping it would be a nice drink (or at least powder) for the kids. Ugh.. it's bland. I followed the directions and made some by mixing milk. Hmm... nothing to write home about. My first thought was maybe elderly folks would like this, but it really had no other redeeming flavor qualities that I could see. Even by adding additional powder to the milk - still not much luck.
