Only problem with the infrared grill is the grill holes plug up easy and sucks to clean

Agreed that the Char-Broil Performance Series grates are very, very difficult to keep clean; on the plus side, no other outdoor propane gas grills cook as efficiently as the Char-Broil infrared grills. I'm on my third one, every time I try a different brand I find myself extremely disappointed over how inefficiently other brands, including some very expensive ones, cook the meat, it seems to take FOREVER. My $300 Char-Broil infrared grill takes 8 to 10 minutes in total maximum time to cook a 1" thick steak to medium rare whereas a $600 grill I just bought (and returned for another Char-Broil infrared grill) took well over 15 minutes, closer to 20 minutes, to cook a 1" steak to medium rare. NOTE: Readers should disregard Andy's answer from June 1, 2021 because the Char-Broil infrared Commercial Series grates he recommends buying, while easier to clean, do NOT fit Char-Broil Performance Series grills (which this grill is) as the Performance Series infrared grills have different size grates than all of the other Char-Broil infrared grill series. I guess you pay less for the Performance Series and in return get very hard to clean grates. But I'm not sure paying an extra few hundred dollars for a different infrared series to get easier to clean grates is worth paying that much extra for unless the other series grill grates also cook better (the rest of the grill parts seem basically to be the same, the big difference between the different grill series seems to be the shapes of the hoods (!) and the aforementioned different sized grates that are easier or harder to clean.

Does the tray beneath the infrared grill come out for easy cleaning?

Are the grates attached to the infrared units? Seeing videos where the top grate and the layer below with holes are removable for easy cleaning

There appear to be different qualities of Tru-Infared elements..

Some Char-Broil grill models have a Tru-Infared element that is a single sheet that is a separate piece below the grilling surface.. My 3-burner grill has Tru-Infared elements that are part of the grilling surface.. Performance may be the same for both styles, but cleaning is considerably more difficult when the Tru-Infared element is attached to grilling surface..

Nice grill, great sear, very happy

This grill is awesome. Arrived quickly and box has straps around it so that it can be easily carried. Assembly ease and time was better than I expected and I had no problem putting it together myself. Once I connected the propane tank and fired it up, was surprised at how hot the grill got. Temperature gauge said 650-degrees, and that was only after a short preheat on high. In terms of size, this grill is perfect for our family of four. Had friends over this weekend, and easily fit 7 burgers, 5 brats and 4 big ears of corn on the grill. The cooking grates on this grill are really cool. There are little holes in the grates, but flames can’t come up above the grates. And every time grease drips from the food, (burgers and brats for me), it sizzles and smokes on the grill grate surface. I think this is the infrared technology and is definitely a cool feature. All in all, food was been great. Did chicken breasts and they came out really juicy. Great grill.

Worst grill ever!The infrared grates make the food taste like its cooked indoors. Cleaning and seasoning the grill every time it’s used is required because the small holes in the grate gets clogged.HATE IT!

Fantastic Grill

I ordered this grill on a Monday for a weekend event and received it on Wednesday. Assembly took roughly 30 minutes with no issues what so ever. The grill looks great and cooks fantastic. This is my first infrared grill and I am very impressed so far. Temperature gets much hotter than any grill I have ever had before and I don't have to worry about burning the food because there is no way for the flames to get to what I am cooking. Clean up is easy if you follow the instructions and burn off excess food after grilling. I highly recommend this grill.

Awesome Grill; Nice Even Heat Control & Good Price

Needed to replace 12 year old rusty grill (Gulf Coast cancer) so I did the research & pricing. TRU-Infrared is awesome. Arrived fast in time for Memorial Day. Assembly was quick & easy which I didn't expected. I do not have a problem with not having an enclosed lower area on this less expensive model (paid $260). So far this have been a pleasure to grill with. Steaks, salmon, mahi mahi, burgers, brats, baby back ribs (4 racks on right 2 burners & 8 burgers on left burner and pineapple wedges on top grid with no problems controlling the heat). I'm sold on infrared technology and it definitely allows better grilling control and cleanup is a snap. Used the provided little scrapper that gets all the grill groves cleaned out then wiped with paper towels and turned heat on high for 5 minutes. Great grill!
