works well, powerful, kind of noisy
Bought this for my Evo 13g bare bottom salt tank for more flow and it works great for that. I'm still figuring out the differences between functions, because they seem about the same. My only complaint is that the timed wave function makes a clicking noise every time it turns on and off, so it sounds like there's a respirator in the room. I worry it bothers my fish, what if it's driving them insane hahaBottom line: Moves the water and debris in my tank really well, makes quiet clicking noise turning on and off. Still like it.

Slight buzz keeps this from being 100% awesome
First of all, this pump is very small, and very powerful. I replaced several larger "propeller"-style pumps with just this one, and I'm running it at less than 50%. The controller is very easy to use, and simple to adjust. 3 simple knobs control maximum speed, minimum speed, and the interval between those two. According to the instructions, you could set up a standing wave & several other functions by adjusting these controls, but I haven't tried that.As I mentioned, it's super powerful - I have mine mounted at one end of a 3 foot long 40B tank, & it easily shoots to the opposite wall. In fact, the wave of water goes across the top of the tank, bounces off the other wall and circulates back across the lower half of the tank for a nice circular flow. And again, this is at maybe 40%. I'd run it higher but it would completely dig up my sand bed. Some people are concerned that there's no covering over the propeller itself, for fear that snails and such might get in and clog it. In a month or two of usage, that hasn't happened yet. Furthermore, because the propeller is exposed it doesn't appear to lose any flow as the intake gets covered in algae, which I have found to be common in other pumps. The only problem I've come across - as I mentioned in the title - is that it's not terribly quiet. I'm sitting here about 6' from my tank right now, and I can definitely hear it buzzing - it's about the same volume as my protein skimmer (Reef Octopus HOB), so it's not terrible. Still, if I was running this full speed on a bare bottom SPS tank in a quiet room, I'd be a little concerned about the noise. Other than that, I'd recommend this pump without reservations.

Loud. Clogs often
Way too loud. Interesting lower profile design. Moves lots of water and flow speed is very adjustable. I’m running it below the overflow in an IM10 and it’s maybe at 25%.It’s just too loud. In a world of DC pumps this thing, at this size, at this price, should be dead silent. It is also very prone to clogging.

Might be good, If I could connect it to my tank.
This unit has a HUGE design flaw, Tunze does not provide any way to disconnect the power head from the controller. I guess they think everyone of the planet has an open-top aquarium. I'm going to have to saw a hole in the back of my aquarium cover to fit the controller through. Great job guys!
