A good addition to available budget strings
I've used similarly priced Tonica strings on all of my four violins at some point or other but have only been satisfied with results on the two newest ones - On my antique instrument and more robust new violin they don't quite sound right, especially on the antique which sounded great with dominants but I've been reluctant to get those since they got so expensive - The set of Alphayue strings I got were actually £14 and listed as used because they only had the aluminium D included, so wasn't much to spend to try them out as I'd previously had the aluminium D when I had used Dominants I'm giving these 5 stars because they really do sound like dominants and have a fuller sound than the Tonicas, so a prefect match on the classy antique violin, though I have to get another set to try them out on newer violin that sounds great with high tension Evah Pirrazi's and should sound good with these. The only slight niggle with these strings is the tin plated E which I really don't like but I have spare E's since I found that there are good plain steel E's in some of the cheap Chinese string sets, which at around £1.50 per set are much cheaper than buying any single steel E string - I 've never bothered with the Dominant E before so this has not affected my rating...

For much more than beginners!
Beautiful strings. Used dominate for 39 years and switched to these because the price is gone silly in dominants. These are really lovely strings. Very stable - great sound - I love them. Raunchy g and great d and a and even the e is not bad. I have 5 violins and over the past few years have used probably 10 sets of these and have always been excited about new strings 😀

Very good option
Really nice strings. Give even 1/2 Stentor violin rich and deep sound. Soft and thick under fingers. Remember, E string is not nylon, but steel. And this is normal! Definitely worth of money. Strong enough for everyday practicing musicians.

The strings looked well made. I am a beginner so I couldn't say if they were a lot better in sound than the strings that came with my violin. I thought upgrading to a good brand (albeit entry level ones) was a good thing to do. Disappointingly after being installed for two weeks, without warning, the G string ball broke away; it pinged off and I have never managed to find it. I managed to fix this by tying a knot in the end and threading through a small nut I had. There was just enough string to let me do that and it works fine. I did send an email to the manufacturer. I thought they might send me an apology or even a replacement string. However they didn't reply.
