Yes, it is. You just need to remove the lid before putting the container into a microwave.

Are the containers made out of glass or any other material?

The containers are made out of borosilicate glass. The dividers are made out of the same glass as well. The lid is plastic.

Are the compartments leakproof inside of the container?

The container is leakproof from leaking OUTSIDE of the container, but the dividing walls inside of the containers do not go all the way up, so if you put liquids into the same container, they would spill into each other.
