Great tool for aspiring chess player. It's easy to set up and to follow for kids

I am so happy with this purchase. My 10 year old knew a little about chess and my 7 year old knew nothing. This was a great game that explains all the rules (no parent knowledge needed) and you can play games with the computer or another person. What I love is that when you pick a piece to move, it shows the potential ways you can move. Would purchase again!

Best trainer for my son aged 7. He likes to revise the lessons, play with AI, or with me on iPad.

We’ve introduced a good variety of games to my kids and have several of Shifu’s excellent learning apps so decided to give this as try when it was on sale. We’ve only done the introduction of all the pieces and how to use them, but it’s been great so far. Introductions follow basic movement and then trial play with the piece so kids get a solid understanding of how the different pieces work. The voice work and graphic are well done and entertaining and my 7 year old liked it. Only minor negative was learning to use the supplied pieces took a little getting used to . Tap once in your starting square and a yellow box goes around your piece then you move. I have a lot more to explore on the app, but happy so far. Bottom line: fun and engaging way to learn chess.

Our Tacto chess arrived last weekend and I’m even more impressed than I expected to be. The figurines are a really good size for little hands and seem very well made. The app actually teaches the child how to play chess so no parental knowledge is needed - this was brilliant for me. The themes are great for making the game child friendly. My little one isn’t actually 6 yet and still enjoyed playing it. The only thing to keep in mind for younger children is that there is a little bit of reading, for example ‘your king will be checked’ but I wouldn’t let this put you off getting the app if your child is less than 6. I’m already looking to see which app to get next!
