Informative & Inspiring
For anyone on a path to Wellness or Health Coaching, this book is a fabulous read! One can relate to the real life struggles from the author Eileen T. O'Grady, a PhD, RN, and NP, as well as her clients. Taking control of our health and making intentional lifestyle choices is up to us. This book explains the importance of Choosing Wellness in 29 chapters that can later serve as a reference on our bookshelf. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and did not get paid to write this review. -Health Coach in training '24

I'll be gifting copies of this book to my family members
After I read Choosing Wellness, I bought 5 more copies to give to my family members. The book is part memoir, so it’s filled with stories of how the author sought wellness in all its dimensions—from battling her own addictions to alcohol and cigarettes, to figuring out a new career path, to eschewing responsibility for other people’s bad choices. Those stories help you understand why Dr. O’Grady must be a fabulous wellness coach: she’s been there and knows how hard it is to fight cravings, feel stuck, and deal with difficult relatives. The book also contains client stories that not only offer unusual advice for losing weight and starting an exercise program, but also practical frameworks for combatting bullies and emotional vampires, parenting, coping with worry and grief, and generally walking through life with healthier mental attitudes. While the author emphasizes how we can take charge of our well-being by raising our awareness, making better choices, and seeking support, I loved how she also discourages us from harshly judging ourselves and others. Change is hard—especially when we can’t see how our experiences, limiting beliefs, and emotional habits drive our behavior. That’s why I’ll be giving copies of this book to my family members. I hope that, like me, they’ll see their own struggles in the author’s stories and seek support for changing habits shaving years off their health spans.

Transformative, excellent, and easy read.
A brave, bold, insightful look into the life and insights of a nurse practitioner and certified wellness coach. Eileen T O’Grady shares her triumphs and tragedies to educate and empower others to take control of their life. Her courageous act of storytelling and her disclosure of deeply personal struggles unite all of us as human beings who are perfectly imperfect.Eileen’s willingness to put herself out there, to be vulnerable, advances the cause of eliminating the stigma that keeps us unwell. This book will meet you where you are, show you that you are not alone in the darkness, and provide practical tips for emerging victorious and free. A must read for anyone who has struggled or who has been witness to brokenness. Integrating this book into the training of all medical professionals would be a good start. It’s an easy read. Many in my life will be getting copies.Thank you Eileen for fearlessly leading us toward better health outcomes and a new paradigm for the care of all those who are weary!

An honest and inspiring look at how we can profoundly improve our lives through our daily choices.
Choosing Wellness is full of deep wisdom and encouragement for those who feel stuck in one or more areas of their lives. It reminds the reader that they have choices about their health and wellness.O'Grady shares stories from her private coaching practice and her own life. She offers a depth of vulnerability in recounting her own wellness journey that is rarely seen by other authors. Through her personal stories, the reader is able to see how she has consciously chosen wellness. She goes on to show how she has empowered her clients to overcome stress, discouragement and overwhelming obstacles in order to create better lives for themselves.I have read Choosing Wellness twice. Both times I came away with pearls of wisdom I could immediately apply to my own life.

Inspiring and motivating!
What a great read! I couldn't put it down.Dr. O'Grady provides insight into familiar and relatable experiences through self-reflection and application of practical sound strategies. I found myself connecting with my own relative life experiences and seeing how these life lessons (that we are constantly presented with), can give us opportunities to grow, learn, and care for ourselves. She exposes the affects and triggers from common and typical adverse childhood experiences and combines these real life stories with research-based strategies that ultimately provide transformative outcomes. She shares her insight and knowledge from her practice with modern medicine to help shift our perspective to its real value, and away from our dependence on it to fix everything. This understanding empowers us to take responsibilty for our own wellness and motivates me to also want to choose wellness!

TREMENDOUS BOOK about achieving wellness .
Full of her own personal stories and life experiences, the author Eileen lights the way for us with this book. She highlights how we can and must turn our disappointments and tragedies into meaningful progress, as we adapt to the changes we face in our movement through life. She shows by examples and stories, how to maneuver in challenging situations, how to choose patterns of wellness, and how to achieve our own measure of success. I look at her as a true genius, pulling and integrating so many pieces of knowledge and insight together.I will reread this book because so many of the stories can be reflected on to add to one’s own adaptive process. I feel like I’ve been armed with a tool box for life. This book will have a special place in my own library. Highly Recommended.

Beautiful, Transparent, Healing
This book encompasses the reason we went into nursing- to help and heal. For way too long medicine has become only “bandaids” covering up, but never getting to the “root” of the problem which must encompass mind, body and soul. Eileen’s book “Choosing Wellness “ is a beautiful, transparent story of a practitioner who has not only experienced the depth of hurt and healing but so loving offers this gift to others through her book and Wellness Coaching.
