How long does the solar panel takes to charge the batterers?

The solar panel will provide continuous current to the control board when sunlight is hitting the panel but this is a very low rate of current of around 300mA-500mA. The Ghost Controls system control board has an on-board integrated charging circuit that controls how much current will be sent to the battery so that it keeps the battery from overcharging. The amount of time needed to charge the battery is impossible to specify because it depends on a number of factors including but not limited to: -the number of hours of direct vs. indirect sunlight hitting the panel -the number of cycles -the current voltage and age of the battery -the ambient temperature of the battery -any continuous or periodic discharge of the battery by connected items -other accessories that are connected to it -geographic location in the country of the solar panel We have a help guide on our support website that shows recommendations for the number of panels needed based on your geographic location, the type of system (single vs. dual), and the number of panels you have installed. Does this panel require a solar charger or is it built in?

The solar charge controller is included in the Ghost Controls gate opener system main control board. It is not part of the solar panel itself so as long as you are connecting the panel to our gate opener system, you do not need a separate solar charge controller. Can you use the solar panel for anything else besides a gate opener?

I plan on buying this solar panel to use with my Mighty Mule 360 gate opener. What additional accessories do i need to complete the hook up?

You should not need anything provided your gate opener has inputs for a positive and negative wire for a solar panel. The solar panel has these outputs with a cord about six feet long.

Perfect upgrade

My gate opener was installed with a 10-watt solar panel. Worked well until this winter. More clouds & rain than usual in CA this year. Direct sunlight was heavily filtered or sometimes completely blocked.The battery could not fully charge in the limited hours of sunlight. Rather than relocating the panel or adding 10-watt panel(s) in series, I replaced the 10-watt with this 30-watt panel and added a backup battery. It generates more power faster and can completely charge two batteries with the few hours of sunlight per day during the winter.Quick and easy to install, and plenty of reliable power now. Did not require tech support.

I bought this panel to install in parallel with my original that I bought with the gate operator. I'm in a wooded area so it's impossible for me to get the 8 hrs Ghost Controls reccommends, so I was going to locate this second one in a different location, which would have required me to dig accross my driveway. Instead I figured I'd try to add next to my first one just to see, and it's worked great! Once summer rolls around, I get plenty of sunshine, so it is only an issue in winter months.Glad I bought this second one. If I had to do it over I would have ordered the larger panel to start with, but this works fine.
