I so much enjoyed reading about courageous women who made a positive difference in the lives of those around them, and the lives of future generations.Sometimes when reading novels I notice ways in which I would rephrase a sentence, paragraph, or train of thought in a way that I think offers more clarity. That didn’t happen when reading Marianne’s book. Everything flows nicely; this book is such a pleasant read.

Good read! Came recommended from a friend - was a quick, interesting read. Lots of historical information in easy-to-understand and digest info (especially for the non-historian, like myself!). I bought the e-book version.

I want to say the seller was great and packaged my book well. Very excited to spend some quality time reading about the grit of the women who "civilized the wilds of the West" as it has been said.

This book is about 12 women who lived in a time when women were extremely suppressed and had few rights. These women managed to have extraordinary lives and are a role model for all women of any time. The book is well written and each story is short, so there's never too much information about each one. I really enjoyed it!

Wish there were more.

Love this book! So many stories about men throughout history but to find a book that tells of the lives, challenges and success of several women is particularly wonderful. I think all young lady's should read this and see that women can over come, and even use, adversity and be successful as well as contribute to society.

Every woman highlighted in this book is so fascinating and impressive. It was well written, with insightful take homes. I loved their varied stories and that there were different things to learn from each one. Makes me want to read more about them.
