Worth the Investment for Alarm.com Users
Excellent product and very easy to install, both physically using the existing pre-drilled holes from your old door bell, and virtually via the Alarm.com app. Have not had any issues with it, and have been very impressed with its performance and integration into the overall Alarm.com platform (e.g., event-triggered rules, notifications, automatic video recording, etc.). The phone alerts and live video that appear on your phone when someone rings the doorbell are helpful, especially in large homes. On top of that, it looks nice too, and the LED colors (default is green as shown in the Amazon picture) can be changed to any possible color and brightness level right from the Alarm.com website of phone application. If you already have the camera option on your Alarm.com account (and have not exceeded the maximum number of cameras), there is no charge to add this service to Alarm.com (four for the basic plan). If you don't have it, you can add up to four additional cameras for a nominal fee, and increase to eight per account Definitely makes one interested in considering the Alarm.com cameras to supplement the product, as I have, with previously installed indoor and outdoor cameras. Just make sure to contact your Alarm.com representative to ensure they have "checked the box" to turn on the doorbell feature for your account (you can tell if this is off because there won't be a doorbell option in the Alarm.com phone application menu). The only downside I can find (and it's possible I just don't know how to do it), is you cannot integrate with other products (Nest, IFTTT, etc.) when using the Alarm.com application as the primary controller (it won't let you use both the Skybell HD app and Alarm.com). Maybe there's a way around this, but I haven't found one. This is not a deal breaker for me, so it's still a nice investment.

Stopped working; poor Alarm.com tech service
Installed and worked great for 2-3 weeks. Then, night vision blacked out rendering totally useless for night time usage. Then, notifications became intermittent. Eventually, it wouldn't reconnect to the network after performing a hard and multiple soft resets. Alarm.com support totally passed the buck and pointed me back to Skybell support. Skybell tech support tried valiantly, but never returned with a final management decision to try and rectify the situation. Amazon nobly returned the defective product. Looking for new option now.

Hard-wired and good to -40° - working perfectly
I bought this Skybell specifically because I wanted a hard-wired power (as opposed to a battery-powered camera) and a device rated for *truly* extreme cold (which is to say, -40° Fahrenheit as opposed to the -5° Fahrenheit most manufacturers seem to consider extreme cold). So far, I have not been disappointed. It was a challenge to get the Skybell mounted. In my case, the problem turned out to be the screws shipped with the product - the heads of the screws were too thick to attach the camera to the base once the base was screwed to the wall. (This is why I gave the product 4 stars instead of 5). I was able to install the Skybell only after ditching the included screws for some with thinner heads. Once the physical installation was complete, setup using the Skybell app was fairly straightforward. The cameral has performed nicely. Picture quality is outstanding, including night time captures. Motion detection is generally good, though limited to an area within 7-10 feet of the camera. Motion zones cannot be defined - instead Skybell provides three settings respectively ranked low, medium and high. To decide which setting to use, I suggest (1) select each in turn from within the Skybell app to read the associated description and then (2) experiment a bit. I found the low setting to work best for my circumstances.Out of the box, the Skybell LED lighting is enabled. This is useful for the initial setup, but once I had things working, I turned the LED lighting off. Even with LED lighting disabled, motion detection (and probably a doorbell ring) activates one part of the LED lighting. As far as I can tell, this cannot be disabled, so if you are looking for a "stealthy" doorbell camera that doesn't "announce" when it is capturing video, this is probably not be the device for you.Doorbell and motion-detection alerts come through very quickly. Astonishingly quickly. Video takes a bit longer. In part this is because an in-progress recording doesn't seem to be available until shortly after the recording is complete. It is possible to interrupt a recording in progress by enabling "live" (realtime) video and audio - this bypasses the wait and allows immediate monitoring and/or interaction. When at home, enabling "live" viewing is near instantaneous. I haven't tested the this function away from home, but I suspect performance will vary depending on the upload speed of the home Internet connection *AND* the download speed of the remote connection (e.g., cellular or remote wifi). If I were going to be remote for some time and wanted to improve my odds for use of the "live" capability, I'd reduce the image quality to its lowest setting - the options are 1080p, 720p (better), 720p (good) and 480p.This model Skybell (an HD product) came with cloud-based storage at no cost. This is nice considering most vendors require a subscription. Skybell may eventually move to a subscription model. For now, they provide 7-day retention at no charge. There is no option for longer cloud-based retention, but recordings can be downloaded to the device on which the Skybell app is installed. All in all, I am pleased with this product. I'd purchase it again without hesitation.

So easy to install, works great!
Got it today, mounted it in 10 minutes, had it hooked up and running in less than 30 minutes. Install was simple, connection was simple, app is simple, Motion detection works, recording works, sound is good, talking is like walkie talkies, I have to push a button, million different colors to change the led to, look through there questions to answer before the install and u should have no problem, put the app on my phone and my wifes, works great. Lots of controls for picture quality, volume, etc! When you share it to a someone else's device they need to set up a new account, then share it, they accept and then wait a few minutes for it to show up on there device. You do not set up each device with the add device button.Been using it for several weeks now!!! Works flawlessly!!!!

Good substitute for the Ring.
This is very easy to install and the picture is very good. This also will work in cold weather locations. The Ring will not work below -5F In places like northern Minnesota where there are temps such as -20 or -30F.

Excellent Security Doorbell
The Skybell HD is quite excellent. For those Canadians worried that it will not work with the Skybell app and their cloud services, don't worry, it does just fine. Even when the Alarm.com note in the instructions says it will not. The motion detection is very accurate and I am not getting anything in the way of false alerts. Just legitimate motion alerts and doorbell rings. Quality of the video (especially at night) is outstanding and audio is great as well. Picks up the crickets chirping at night. Captured video shows up quite quickly on your phone or tablet after recording. I have a strong WiFi signal, so I can't comment on situations where it might be weaker.Install took no more than 10 minutes. I was worried that I would need to buy the wedge as my doorbell is about 43 inches from ground level, but the entire picture is captured perfectly even at that lower install height. Very Pleased!

Doesn’t last
Only lasted a year and a half and then little plastic bubble for motion sensor crumbled and fell apart. Has not worked right since. It worked fairly well up until that point. You would think their quality control would be much better considering how much you pay for it.

Consider this over ring
It’s not bad. No monthly fees. You need your wifi to be good but it works well takes good videos

Works great with analog door bell system
Actually I'd rate it a 4.8.Works great with analog door bell system. Night colour video is awesome. Will hook up to digital intercom system later and see what the outcome is. After reading all sorts of reviews, good and bad, don't know why all the negative feedback. Live feed is great! Not sure how it's suppose to be Nest compatible....? The free cloud video storage is a BIG plus! The only comment is that the installation on brick and cement wall: there's no room for the slack from the cable. I had to install a base to accommodate the extra cable.
