Knocked out our Mustard Algae like a Champ!
I am the Certified Pool Operator for my neighborhood pool and we have been battling mustard algae for the past two years. Last summer we did some crazy shock treatment with some other chemicals recommended by Leslies Pool Supplies that took 2 or three days and way too much work. The algae was back after awhile anyway. For those who do not know, mustard (yellow) algae is chlorine resistant so shocking the pool, much less regular chlorine levels, does not help much. Determined to find a chemical solution, I came across this product online. After mulling it over for a couple of weeks I decided to give it a try. Our pool holds 138,000 gallons and I decided to use 10 quarts of this stuff. The price here on Amazon was the best around and I got it via Prime in a couple of days. I like the fact that the pool just has to be reasonably balanced to put the chemical in. I shocked the pool to 12 ppm of Chlorine over night and put the SeaKlear in the next evening. I mixed each quart in a 5 gallon bucket with pool water and poured it around the pool, mainly the deep end. Only had the pool shut down for one day and that was mainly for the shock treatment. Well the first couple of days, I still saw some algae on the floor and was concerned it didn't work. It was not all brushed up beforehand. Well after it was brushed, I have not seen it in two weeks. The pool water is crystal clear, as well as the walls and floors and no mustard algae to be seen. Even disappeared from the drains on the bottom. Very impressed. Hopefully it will last the 90 days or more or at least until the pool is closed, which will be another 45 days or so. The pool attendants are very happy as well. I had them brush the pool constantly to try to keep this terror at bay. Only one little issue and I considered taking a star away for it but I am so giddy about that pesky mustard algae being gone I couldn't do it. The copper can stain, which is the main reason I premixed it. Well, it did not stain our pool at all afterwards using the technique described above. Little platinum blonde girls hair is another matter. Poor girl got out of the pool with hair almost as green as grass. LOL Fortunately her mother was able to get it out and is aware of the issue and puts special conditioner and protection on her hair to help prevent it happening or being as severe. Some ladies with colored/highlighted hair may have some issues as well but I have not had anyone else complain. Overall I am very pleased with the product. Will give an update after the season is over. Right now, I will plan to use this again if that nasty mustard algae props up its ugly head again next year.

My favorite algaecide
This is my favorite algaecide, and it is the best product I have found to keep my pool free from algae of all colors. I had a problem with yellow algae a couple of seasons--tried numerous expensive products to get rid of it that did not work. This product solved the issue and made me a regular customer. It is economical and works for 90 days.,

Copper Algaecide + Trichlor shock (not dichlor) is the solution to getting rid of black algae
If you have black algae, this Copper based algaecide really helps - but it will not totally 100% eradicate the black algae by itself. After adding several quarts of copper algaecide and many pounds of the Chlorox shock w/ copper, I still had black algae on the floor of my pool - even though the water was perfectly crystal clear - in fact, this year my water is the clearest it has ever been! I found the solution to the black algae quite by accident. I bought a couple boxes of Trichlor shock. Trichlor has stabilizer in it so it dissolves much slower than Dichlor shock (and most "shock" is dichlor). The Trichlor is a bit cheaper - so I bought several boxes and figured it's give it a shot. WOW!! Instead of dissolving immediately, it falls to the bottom of the pool and just sits there....right on top of the black algae...and by the next day, the black algae is totally gone! I immediately started sprinkling the Trichlor shock on other areas of the floor where the black algae was growing -- and sure enough, bam! The next day it was gone. So in my experience, to get rid of black algae you need two things - Copper algaecide and Trichlor shock. Use the copper algaecide as directed on the bottle, and just be prepared to dump pound after pound of Trichlor shock evenly over the areas of black algae. You might need several treatments of the Trichlor, but believe me -- it does work.

Did not work for me
My pool stays algae free as long as the free chlorine is above 10ppm. The moment its drops below (literally overnight) black algae spots will appear in the shallow end. Raise the chlorine and they disappear just as quickly. I had hoped this product would help with this issue but it had absolutely no effect. I was seduced by the promise and money back guarantee - I should have spotted that this product was copper based; I have tried other copper algaecides and they didn't work either. It would help if manufacturers would clearly state the active ingredient (not in the small print) on the label. Update July 19th. I have allowed the chlorine level to fall and now at 3ppm and I am pleased to say that there is no sign of black algae so far. Maybe it works for me after all. Let's see if I have 90 days of freedom as promised! Update August 18th. I am pleased to report that my pool has been algae free since the last update and I am able to keep the chlorine at 3ppm. If it falls to 1ppm I can see the black algae trying to make a comeback but not at all with the ferocity it used to. I originally gave this product one star but I have now changed to 5 as it finally lived up to its promise. It has also kept the pool free of green and yellow algae which have been a problem in the past. I am well pleased.

Works for the three months as specified
It works perfectly for the three month. Only problem I found it that it stains my pool bottom. After reading you can avoid this by diluting in a bucket with pool water and ad it in three different try's.

My go-to algaecide esp for late spring/early summer
My go-to algaecide! Strongly suggest applying it in late spring/early summer so you have fewer problems during the hot summer, which makes pool maintenance easier!

Don’t use this or your pool will turn green !
Don’t use this product ! I was using it for years and it was great. Unfortunately the past two years my pool turned green a few weeks after using it. I bought a bottle for my friend and her pool turned green also. I don’t know what has changed as this use to be my go to algaecide but after two years in a row with a big algae bloom I won’t use it again. Neither will my friend. We went to the pool store for a better quality algaecide and after we had to use flock and finally my waters clear.
