Used this kit to seal up a new, and very drafty, smoker. Easy to use and very complete. Sealed up those leaks like a champ. Would recommend.

Does help to seal your grill or smoker. It isn't a complete seal but does help in reducing the amount of smoke and heat lost. Not sure how long the felt will stay stuck to the barrell. The sealant seems to work well around my smoke stack, just be sure to only apply it on the outside of the stack because it does have a very strong chemical odor. I put it on the outside of mine and it took several days for the odor to go away. I can only imagine what that would do to something you were cooking if you apply it inside of the grill or smoker.

First and foremost, I used this with on my Oklahoma Joe Highland smoker. The gasket kit fits perfect (with a little extra) for both the smoke chamber and the firebox.The gasket sealer works well for use around both the chimney and exterior of the firebox. Straightforward and easy to use if you have ever put caulking on a window or bathtub. It’s messy, but it works great, make sure that your bead of silicone is large enough to flatten down with your finger after squeezing it out of the tube. If the bead (ie the whole you cut in the nozzle) is too small it may fall into the seam between the smoke chamber and the firebox. This can be a relatively large gap. If that happens you will not be able to flatten it down with your finger and the gap will never be sealed properly. Seal the gap properly by making the cut in the nozzle large enough to squeeze out a good size bead.TIP: the gasket itself needs to be installed tightly against each strip on the the four edges of the smoker chamber lid lip. Meaning if you are installing four strips to make your seal (top, bottom, and both sides) then make sure that each piece is long enough that it butts up tightly to the other strips. If you have a gap anywhere along the four sides (specifically in the corners) it will leak smoke. Seems like common sense, but “close enough” will not be close enough when your smoke is seeping out of the gap you left in your strips. If you have a small gap, fill it with the silicone sealer and let it dry before closing your lid.Happy smoking!!!

This stuff works great on my smoker! Sealed up the smoke chamber door perfectly. The gasket material has it's own adhesive on it. The tube of food grade silicon is only rated for 450 degrees. You may want the red if you are trying to seal up seams on your fire box. The red is temps up to 650 degrees.

Tape was very easy to install. The silicone had issues and it was probably just the tube I received. I opened the tube and prepared it by putting a hole in the top, when trying to squeeze it out it was not coming out at all, so I thought well maybe the top was blocked so I used a nail and put it through the hole. It didn't go in so easy at first so maybe the top had started gel up. When I pulled out the nail it had soft silicone on it so I knew there was good stuff in the tube. So I squeezed it again and nothing out of the top, but it was all over my hand as the bottom seam split, good thing I was wearing gloves. End of the story, the tape is great, the tubed silicone not so much.

The gasket material worked well and helped keep more smoke in and the cold air from coming in the sides.Have not used the RTV yet..
