Old TV + Chromecast + Extractor + Soundbar = Happy ears
I bought two Vizio soundbars, both require HDMI ARC or eARC. Unfortunately, the bedroom TV is an old Sony Bravia which works well but doesn't have either, just regular old HDMI ports.Googled a bit and decided on this extractor because it came with an optical cable. Other extractors mostly only provided .5mm to RCA stereo audio cables which can lead to lesser quality of sound. I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of researching optical cables.I use a Chromecast device and connection was easy:1. Connect the HDMI end of the Chromecast to the HDMI input port on the extractor; the Chromecast is plugged into the wall socket for power.2. Connect one end of the provided HDMI cable to the TV HDMI port and the other end to the HDMI output port on the extractor.3. Connect one end of the provided optical cable into the optical port on the soundbar and the other end to the optical port on the extractor.4. Connect the mini-USB type A end of the provided USB cable into the port on the extractor and the other end into the provided power adapter; plug the adapter into wall socket for power.I've only used this extractor for 3 weeks so not sure about its longevity, but so far my ears are happy. YMMV.

Makes Xbox volume work on computer monitor
Have a nice computer monitor my son hooked to his Xbox. The problem is it has no speakers. I got this attachment and my son can use computer speakers for the audio on his Xbox with a computer monitor.

Terrible4… Awlful… Just Plain Bad!
Oh boy! Not sure where to start.First of all: This HDMI 2.0b Audio Extractor, Splitter, Converter is not constructed of quality material. The main components is housed in a plastic casing that comes apart very easily without much force. It's like constructed of cheap particle board. The ports for inserting the HDMI and O cable in isn't soddered onto the main board firmly enough. They pushed in when I tried inserting the required cables. The video signal being transmitted from the unit to my TV is very shaky. You have to keep cycling the On/Off switch to stabilize the picture. Even then, after say 30 minutes of viewing a movie the color distorts and the audio becomes very staticky.Worst of all the unit stopped working after less then 3 weeks of use.Tried contacting customer service about the problem. They couldn't even understand what I clearly spelled out in the support email. Guess I know why so many Amazon consumers ask was a product produced in the United States.I wouldn't recommend this 4K@60Hz HDMI 2.0b Audio Extractor Splitter Converter, HDMI to HDMI + Optical Toslink SPDIF + 3.5mm Stereo Analog Audio, HDMI Audio EmbedderInserter for PS5,Xbox, Optical Fiber or any other similar product produced by Avedio Links.Caveat emptor (Let the buyer beware.)

Works great
Boyfriend is hard if hearing and uses Bluetooth headphones that have an optical hookup. I have a cable box to receiver to tv all hooked up by hdmi and I had no way to connect headphones in. If I used optical from receiver to headphones it overrode the hdmi sound so I couldn’t hear it through speakers. If I connected to the tv same issue it was hdmi output OR optical. This splits the sound so it can go hdmi to receiver and optical to Bluetooth adaptor to his headphones. Now everyone can hear. No sound loss. Complicated fiddling with the switches to get it to work but it works.

Worked great.
I got a new TV and my 12 year old JVC sound bar cord would not work with new TV. Googled my sound bar for a cord that would adapt and this one came up on Amazon. Works perfect. Even paired with remote. So happy.

Bose Speaker
Works well with my Bose speaker. Had to purchase a new television. My speaker was not compatible. And this was an awesome purchase. Easy fix.

Product generally works
This product allows me to use an older surround receiver having optical inputs with a new television having HDMI eARC output. It works properly when the selected video source is the cable box, streaming services, or over the air broadcast. I can now get the surround channels from the television into my receiver. I don't even have a HDMI input plugged into it - just the eARC output from the television. This is exactly what I wanted when I purchased this device. However, the device arrived with a non-functioning 5V power adapter, and I am having no luck getting the vendor to send me one. This has caused me to deduct two stars. I still may return the product over that one thing.

Great for TV with no optical.
I have a TV with no optical out or bluetooth. I use a bluetooth transmitter so I can route audio to a bluetooth headset. I had to plug the transmitter into the headphone jack on the TV which means, you can't use TV speakers unless you unplug the transmitter from the headphone jack. I want to be able with use either without having to plug and unplug. This device allows me to use the optical connector with my Bluetooth transmitter. Now all I have to do is change the audio out from TV speakers to audio device to change the output with the TV remote.
