The tabletop design also gives users the flexibility to wind or unwind from anywhere they can place the swift . Aside from the ability to unwind from this swift, it also has the added flexibility of functioning as a capable skein winder for home use. When four of the 3/8" birch pegs are placed at identical spots along the arms, users can create skeins of 30", 38", 46", 54", 63" and 72" in circumference.Yarn NOT included

Ultimate in simplicity.... but if you're looking for precision maybe not.
So this really is the ultimate in simplistic design. No nuts or bolts; nothing unnecessary. That said, the cuts and drilled holes are not "precision", so there is A LOT of play everywhere. The base pieces wiggle. The arms wiggle. The pegs wiggle in their holes. All of that is forgivable, even arguably necessary, but the 72" peg holes are actually 70.5". There is no 36" (1 yard) marking, only 38". You can achieve 36 by using 3 of the 38" holes and 1 of the 30" holes, but you may struggle with even more wobble. The 54" holes seem to be spot on.I'm not sure if this is an issue with other Amish-type swifts (reading reviews on other brands it might be) or if it's just the ones from Amish China. (LOL?)

Defective: Not All Holes Drilled
I was really looking forward to this swift. A friend bought a similar swift recently, and I was excited by how simple, and clean the design is. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed when I assembled it. Assembly was very easy, but, I noticed a major issue right away. Not all of the holes had been drilled. An entire section of holes required to make this swift function were completely absent. I have put in for a return and did not ask for a replacement. I will purchase one from a company with better quality control.

This is perfect
I'm so glad I purchased this swift. I wish I had done so much earlier in my crochet career. It is so very well made and easy to use. You can take it apart in a second, and it is ease to put it back together ( so consulting a diagram). And it works. It works so well. So much easier than lugging a dining room chair and flipping it over and winding my yarn on the legs ! This swift is easily adjustable with the wooden pegs. Besides its functionality, I really like its appearance. I love the Amish style of simplicity and beauty. The whole experience of using this make me quite happy. I just received 15 skeins of hand-dyed wool and I'm NOT dreading winding it into balls for the first time ! I can make myself a nice cup of coffee, snap this swift together, sit outside and have a good time with my beautiful new yarn.

Really great for winding yarn
After making a couple yarn balls by hand, I bought this swift and a cake winder. Total. Game. Changer. This swift has worked great for all the cakes I've made so far, and I like that it is easy to assemble and disassemble. I might add a bit of oil on the center peg eventually so it turns with less squeaking, but I am very very happy with this purchase and highly recommend it to anyone who needs a swift to wind their yarn.

Works great!! Super easy assembling
I have went for years with only a ball winder because a swift was to expensive, after many tangled skeins of yarn and a lot of hard work put into trying to wind a ball of yarn i decided to try a wooden yarn swift because the price was much cheaper than the plastic swift and I’m SO SO glad I did, I LOVE IT!!! It is super easy to assemble and dis assemble and store and no worries of tangled yarn any more!! I HIGHLY recommend this swift!! One small piece of advise I have is that I had mine on the floor using it then after a couple uses realized that it worked much better on a table top or somewhere where it is level or a little above where u have your ball winder, if u have the swifter lower than the ball winder it will cause u added work to wind your skein to keep the yarn from coming off the swift while winding it.
