It was easy to install. The screws were too long so my hubby had to add something to the screw to make it tight. My ladder works fine now.

The end result after replacing the old and worn mechanism is great. The arms are slightly shorter than the originals, so you can slide them an inch closer to the steps to ensure that the new screws will not get caught up with the robots of the old parts. It works very smoothly, quieter than the old one.

The measurements was a inch shorter than original and I thought it can still work, I did not received the screw kit in the box, I notified the seller & never received the screw kit so I had to return it.

Before I purchased this kit I paid specific attention to the comments from Mr. Thorpe, Mr. Sparks, Matthew M and Mr. Putnam previously made in the review section. Also, I measured what i had and compared those with the provided values for this unit. My arms were different as they did not contain the curved piece but simple math led me to see this would work as all other measurements matched. My ladder was very old and there is no visible identification to indicate who built it; so there was some risk in buying a post 2010 kit, but it matched based on measurements. My only additional comment beyond what has been provided by others regards the hardware. The bracket has four holes with installment requiring three screws being placed on each side. That is fine! As this house is older (1976) the wood is aged. Even with pre-drilling i snapped a head with the screw only 2/3ds of the way in. First time i thought it was me, but when it happened a second time, i thought otherwise. I used my own hardware after that and had no issues with the installment. The arms work well!

It was exactly the part we needed. NONE OF THESE ARE EASY TO INSTALL. You need 2 people;1 of them a very handy guy or a handyman. It is not an easy project, particularly reinstalling the spring. A bit pricey but fair. Otherwise, this is a solid, very high quality part.
