They hatched! Super cool little shrimp!
I gave this kit to my son for Easter and we followed the instructions and 5 triops hatched. I think they were overfed (didn't want cannabilism) and so we lost some, so be careful in feeding the proper amount. Or it might have been the tinfoil at night (per instructions). As long as the room is around 72, they have been fine without the lamp at night and back on during the day. These little guys are so cool! I could watch them all day. The tank is fine, but because they are neater than we thought, we are getting a bigger tank set up with a small filter (when they are big enough) and a plant. We want to keep them around all the time, so we will hatch more in the small tank after the other dies. These guys are messy and the small tank clouds quickly, so hopefully the new set up will help. They are fast and it's fun watching them play and sift through the sand. It's a great little kit, but if you love them like we do, you'll want to upgrade, though it isn't necessary.

Very cool
The process for the triops is a bit tedious. And the instructions are sort of crazy with all the different feeding directions. But I tried my best to follow them and lo and behold, I got a viable one on my first attempt!!! I was so happy because I didn’t think any of the eggs had hatched. But once the one finally did he grew very fast and was very cute and fun to watch. I’m definitely going to do more. Another thing I loved is how the kit comes with enough eggs for two rounds of triops. I don’t even have kids and I had so much fun doing this for myself!!! But I think it would be something cool for kids to do. I do recommend having someone to help though like I said the instructions are very specific!!!

Not very sturdy guys
The concept is awesome, and the first few days after the water set up is very entertaining. The critters grow at exponential rates and they are so active, and so they are fun to see every day. I did everything I was supposed to, but I went out of town and left them in the care of my husband, with clear instructions. They were all dead when we got home 🤦🏼♀️ The triops, not my husband. We put in another batch of eggs that came with the kit and only one hatched. (There were 6 the first time?). But the one that hatched was the super triops. The Hercules of triops, if you will. He grew so fast and did very well for several weeks. However, I just checked on him and he was dead. Not sure what happened. I couldn't be further from an expert, but it seemed like he may have gotten stuck in his old shell and just couldn't molt. Who knows. They are really fun when they are alive, though!

My kids LOVE it
We have seen 6 babies with the one in the picture being the biggest. My 3yo named him Kratos. I had a similar kit when I was a kid and had to share the experience with my littles. So far they absolutely LOVE it!The kit came with the tank, tank lid, pipette, plastic fossil, magnifying glass with ruler, thermometer, 2 eggs with sand, one just eggs, 1 bag of limestone, one bag of baby food and one adult food. We did not receive any gravel like it says on the box so I hope it’s okay. I don’t feel like they have enough sand to hide in and I’m too nervous to put anything foreign in as my youngest son already dropped the plastic fossil in there. The directions feel a little conflicting but our little babies are doing great! It’s definitely worth the purchase if you’re on the fence with buying it. Do your own research for instructions and you should have thriving little three eyed babies!

EXPENSIVE for what you get(and do not get)
Instructions in the box are so small you need a magnifyi glass to read them. The instructions given in the product in Amazon ,the included instructions, and the instructions on the carton they arrive in are ALL different. It says you receive gravel, we received NO gravel, and 2 madnifying glasses(Should have been one) , and when the water gets about 4 days old it begins to smell. All of the first ones died 1 day after hatchin even though we went exactly according to the instructions in the kit.We just purchaced more natural spring water and put the second batch in, but I do not have much confidence that we will have anything 6 days from now. The dissapointment to my 7 year old grandson was definitely NOT worth it.

RECOMMEND!!! SUPER FUN!
The media could not be loaded. So Steve is the survived of the clan. He's now 30 days old! I recommend this kit 100% because it's been a fun experience, the kit comes with everything but water.Tips:- READ EACH DAY BY DAY STEP!- Use only distilled water.- Feed as instructed not over feed.- Clean the water out weekly (after instructions say to) I use a cup and scoop out half of the tank and add more in. I use the suckered thingy to grab random stuff out.I noticed he was always digging so I ended up going to petsmart and getting the simular sand since he's full grown now. He's LOVING IT! Make sure to clean it once more at home. I put the sand in a baggy shook it up empty the water and used a spoon to place it in. I cleaned his new tree too.Anywho GET IT! If it doesn't work you are given a second bag of eggs and a thing of pure eggs only. They live up to 90 days but Steve has so much personality and I adore him. ❤❤

NO TRIOPS HATCHED!!!
I went through TWO rounds of desperately trying to hatch triops for my Special Needs classroom. A tiny sea monkey hatched and promptly died. I followed directions meticulously!!

Need a better setup to raise Triops for any length of time.
To me, set up was easy. At the 72 hour mark we didn’t think we’d have any from the sand and egg mix, but then there was 3. One was a bit bigger than the other 2. The smallest one was gone the first day, the next day the next one was gone. Over a week the only one left grew like crazy. It lived 3/24/25-4/3/25. Could not keep the water clean, (2 half changes in less than a week.) I may have over fed it, but some say don’t starve them. The tank you get without filtration and air is definitely not suitable to get them to their top lifespan of 90 days. You need to go hardcore with an aquarium setup for them.
