Much preferred over the standard six-bolt rotor attachment
For modern mountain bikes, you can either attach rotors to the hub by the standard six-bolt method that has been around for two decades or you can use Shimano's Centerlock hubs and rotors. I prefer Centerlock as it is just better all around; lower heat, faster maintenance or replacement, better looks and it allows for a lighter weight hub. If you use Centerlock, then you need either the internal lockring or this model, the external lockring. I prefer the external lockrings because they allow for more precise torque to be set. These lockrings only weigh 11 grams as well which is less than the ~ 23 gram weight of six steel bolts.Overall, a simple, elegant device that is five stars. NEVER had a problem with Centerlock rotors or lockrings.
