Saves lives and money
I had a very bad problem with my Furnace filters always get covered with soot after a week of replacement , I got anxious and was about to call in a professional to make sure there is no Monoxide leak or if my furnace is not burning efficiently so I was doing my research and found out this precious tool that eased my anxiety about monoxide leak and found out that the culprit was the excessive usage of candles by my GF . We stopped using candles for a whole month and we never saw soot on a filter again .

Not a pro tool but will tell you if in danger
I got this after repairing my furnace on my own. I wanted to be sure there were no CO leaks in my home.To get started be sure your batteries are fully charged. Don't use batteries that are less than half charged in this thing. Change the batteries often. The first thing this needs to do is calibrate. I make sure to do outside or somewhere that I know has a clean breeze with fresh air to wait for the calibration countdown timer to finish. If you calibrate it in a room full of CO then you'll likely get incorrect results. I know it takes 5 minutes but is waiting 5 minutes worth risking your life over just to not have to step outside? After the calibration is over I move into the place where I'm testing. By default the tester will show you the level for the amount of time it detects it so you need to keep your eye on it. It may flash a high number then go down after just a second and you can miss it. To check it picks up anything you can stick it by a car tailpipe and you'll see that you get a reading. Anything over 10 should be considered bad. Sure, it isn't deadly but you don't want to be living in a space that has that sort of reading long term. In a garage it would make sense but not indoors. To remedy the issue of the number disappearing you can set the mode to "Max" which will hold onto the maximum reading it found for the entire time it was operating. That doesn't mean that the number you see is what you're getting currently, it just means at some point during your test it got that number and it was the highest. You can also set it to a minimum value which means it'll only display the lowest value it detected. I always go around and stick it right where an air vent is blowing heat and see if I get anything. Ideally you should be getting a reading of 0. Many say this doesn't do numbers lower than 10 or 5 but it does. If I leave it on normal mode (not max or min) and it keeps flipping from 0 to any other number and back then I know I have some issue and based on the number I can determine how severe the problem is. Now, no level of CO is truly safe but look up the standards online. The global standards are more strict and you should go by those because American doesn't mind if you destroy your brain power with higher levels of carbon monoxide over an 8 hour work day. Luckily for me I got a 0 reading in my home no matter where I went, even holding it up to several heat vents for a few minutes each. In my garage I got readings from 6 to 11 which wasn't good but no life threatening. I have an apartment above my garage I use as an office and studio so I like to know these things. This would work well with an Amazon Alexa-enabled Air Quality monitor which has a little light on it to show you air quality and lets you see the temperature, humidity, particulate matter, CO, and other information in the app. It only takes readings every hour or so but that's my first way of knowing something is off. I occassionally use this item in conjunction with the Amazon air quality tool to figure out what's going on in my living space. This is absolutely not professional grade and if you think there's a problem - like maybe you get headaches, feel dizzy, or just aren't yourself for no reason - then call the fire department to have it checked but this CO checker will give you a decent idea of what's going on with your air.Oh, and it has a backlight you can use to see in the dark. The directions are difficult to follow so just press a bunch of buttons to try things out. Turning it off and back on just resets everything so you don't have to worry that you won't be able to back out of any setting you accidentally turn on.

Works great!
I recently had an incident where my gas stove activated my CO alarm but maintenance couldn't find any leaks. I got this device to monitor CO levels while using my stove before the alarm goes off again. I like that you can clip it to your belt and the interface is easy to use. Every now and then it'll pick up a larger pocket of carbon monoxide at 15ppm and the alert is loud. The only downside it is takes about 2 minutes to start up and configure itself.

Y it's complete TRASH see 2 photo's
Y it's TRASH. My problems are also verified by other 1 star reviews but I'm adding two pics so readers can SEE the Y it's trash. Was NEVER able to get other then a zero reading after testing it with known sources of at least medium carbon monoxide. Plus after only doing about say 10 different tests since I try so hard NOT to return things the brand new just purchased Duracell Batteries I just bought , the unit would no longer turn on and the severe battery discharge was also way uneven. Amazon please better ver your products OR remove them from your sight after X? amount of legit verified reviews. So many of these test instruments have good promotional assertions that end up not even close to what you get or evidently based on the other good reviews such companies maybe have just NO quality controls and high percentages of defects.BUT this review is an example for Y I ONLY buy from Amazon when ever I can. This is because Amazon so far is the ONLY place I trust for useful reliable reviews. Good-on-ya's - now Amazon now you guys are competent and creative enough to solve this vetting problem I have faith from experience eventually you will. Thank you so much for your review section. CHEERS now to every reader.

Delivered on-time. Briefly tested by placing the sensor in our furnace's exhaust stream and it registered CO (as expected). I have no way to determine accuracy, but it seems to work. I got it in case we need to heat with inside-rated portable propane heaters (in an emergency). I think it will work for that purpose.
