Ribbon works good
Try using the chip on old controller but it was hard to push the ribbon in, so I use the new chip and it works fine with my controller. I just needed the ribbon.

Cable works, didn't need usb port though.
I really only needed the ribbon cable, which does work great as intended. I imagine the USB port works though. I'll have it handy just in case.
