I ordered this for my sisters vehicle (2000 Toyota RAV4) and it fit and it worked well. It also looked exactly like the original I’d recommend this to anybody.

Unlike the OEM T-stat housing which is made of metal, this one is plastic. It is reinforced where it needs to be and if you don't pay attention and use the wrong coolant, like most people do, this part won't rot out on you like the metal one could. OPINION.... I like Dorman automotive products. I used to think they were poo simply because they had their displays up at every car parts store I ever walked into, and that "usually" means that they paid to be there and were low quality. Come to find out they actually do try hard to make parts better than OEM. I once called them to see if they made a few different parts for my old Corolla, and the dude on the phone said the parts they make won't rot out or break like the OEM parts. He was right as I could see where the parts I ordered were reinforced to last longer and be more reliable. He also looked into some other parts improvements I mentioned. OPINION UPDATE.... Doorman is now importing a lot of Chinese-made parts, so I am downgrading what I think of their company to "potential poo".

Think this plastic is not rated for heat. Or the cheap-azz O-ring is made from recycled condoms. Now leaking barely two months after installation. To be fair, it didn't start leaking till summer rolled around and we started using the A/C (hot coolant). Get the Toyo part (bring vaseline with you...)

The Dorman 902-5000 part fits perfectly on the Toyota 2.2 4-cylinder engine. It's made in China, so it's not OEM, which is what you can expect from everything from this brand. The housing is fine, but who knows what grade of plastic it is? The concern with this product is the quality of the gasket that it comes with. It's thin, brittle paper, and it's only about a third as wide as the original gasket, so it's very prone to give way before long, and then you'll have another coolant leak to deal with. The quality control people at Dorman, if there are any, were asleep on the job with this part. Pick up a Fel-Pro or other high quality thermostat outlet gasket and a tube of gasket sealant before you do this job, otherwise you will have to do it twice. The difference between the Fel-Pro gasket and the one that came with this part is night and day. Hopefully the housing itself will be up to the job. Amazon shipped it next-day, and it arrived at just before ten o'clock at night... the drivers are very dedicated, apparently.
