Works as expected
Assembling the hat is fairly straightforward. There is a switch to turn off the fan, but I don't think it is loud enough to be much of a bother. Especially since I expect most people would have this near the network switch providing the PoE. Once installed, there is nothing you need to do to configure it further. Just plug in your Ethernet cable, and it starts to boot. The hat does not fit well with the Canakit case I have my pi in. I am not going to deduct a star for this because it is more the fault of the case than anything. If you are looking to add PoE for your pi I would say this is a great way to go.

Works with Pi 5 for easy Power.
The Waveshare Power Over Ethernet HAT is easy to install and performs exactly as described. I set it up on a Raspberry Pi 5 even though it is not the primary model listed, and it works well on that board too. Installation was simple and everything functioned as expected once connected.

Simplify your pi...
Just plug over the Pi and secure it with 4 stand-off's and screws. Because I have a thick Pi heatsink, so I have to reverse the fan which comes with this item to the top. So, no more power, just one network cable is all you need. You can still have enough power to access USB's. That's one way to simplify your PI. I love it.

Great board, terrible fan
Bought three of these, and they're all working great after a year of 24x7 operation. The only downside is that the fans on all three failed over the first 4 months, so plan ahead on replacing those. The fans are 30mm x 30mm x 8mm 5V (though you could use 12V as well with the other header on the board).

Great unit
Great unit, but interferes with heatsink placement over CPU. Don't forget to turn on the tiny switch on the board that control the fan aimed right at the cpu - no temperature problems for me with that on.

Great little POE hat!
This works perfectly with my Pi4. All the little pins fit and match up perfectly It allows me to clean up my networking rack by getting rid of another power adapter. Now my little Pi4 Adblock/DNS server fits on a rack shelf with nothing but a single network cable connected. All the hardware to connect and mount it is included. I also appreciate the little fan on it to help cool the CPU. The fan is much quieter than the one in my old pi case.

Components hit Pi 4B heat sinks
did not fit on my Raspberry Pi 4B as I had installed the standard chip heat sinks which are about 7mm tall. The Flyback Transformers too tall and hits several of the heat sinks. I'm going to try a 8.5mm GPIO extender...but you would think Waveshare would have known this would happen. I can't be the only one using heat sinks

Affordable Pi POE
Bought a few of these for a project that was being worked on. Worked out of the box and have had no issues. The fan was a little louder than expected but nothing that was too obnoxious

Great for non-standard applications.
This hat is fantastic if you need a non-standard setup for your PI. I'm using this in an all sky camera that's running on a PI, powering a camera, and some other electronics. Some of which need a 12v supply. This hat provides that without needing anything extra, which make's it the perfect solution for my application.

Keeps temps low
So far so good. Bought as part of a ADS-B feeder to power a Raspberry Pi. Works great! Allows me to power the Pi over ethernet cable, thus eliminating the requirement for a dedicated power source and extra cable. Has been keeping the mainboard cool and within safe operating limits.
