Amazing amplifier - can actually be too strong!
I've been using a flat fractal-style TV antenna for my living room TV since about 2015 and it did a great job picking up local stations about 99% of the time. I later added a SiliconDust HD HomeRun into the mix so I could share the signal to all the TVs in the house via my Emby media server. Unfortunately, due to changes in the location of local broadcast towers, I had to locate the antenna in my living room in an annoying location for it to work properly. I purchased this amp and a 'matching' Channel Master STEALTHtenna (see my review on that product). I initially installed the booster in high-gain mode and went from 11 channels to 15! This was a great improvement - and it worked great... for a while. Fast forward to last week and I realized I couldn't tune in some of the local channels, but could still see some more distant ones. I pull out the iPhone and fire up "Signal GH" again and I see that the signal strength is 100% but my signal quality is really low. Since I've been working with TV antennas long enough, I see the problem and realize what an ID:10T I've been - and immediately proceed to flip the booster to low-gain mode. Now I get *25* channels many with 100% signal strength and near 100% signal quality. I can now see all the local repeaters that were interfering with the main signal. I also now receive several channels from over 100 miles away, past the local group of towers. I also now see a host of channels from about 65 miles away, picked up on the BACK side of the antenna. Of the 25 channels I can now see, about 17 are worth keeping in my channel lineup. So kids, the moral of the story: don't be like me and immediately assume that you need 30db of boost when 17db is plenty. ------------------------- My notes on installation: Installation is a snap... assuming you've installed an outdoor antenna before. I mounted my new STEALTHtenna and pre-amp on the j-mount for my old satellite dish. (after removing the dish of course) I installed short (18-inch) pigtail cable between the antenna to the correct side of the pre-amp. Then connected the longer run to the indoors via a grounded lightning suppressor to the (included) power injector. The injector is powered by a USB adapter (cable and adapter included.) For the main run, I reused the high-quality quad-shielded RG6 I previously installed for my satellite dish. All terminations have good quality waterproof compression F connectors. I usually seal everything with waterproof tape for extra protection, but I couldn't find my roll of coax tape - so I may come back to that later if needed. Even the local cable companies never seem to use the tape anymore since THEY switched to waterproof connectors, so maybe I don't either. Using the included zip-ties, I attached the the pre-amp to the base of the j-pole below the antenna. I don't really like how it looks, so I may re-mount it later on - especially if I ultimately decide to install a taller mount or an extension pole.

Very Pleased
Works very well with Channel Masterโs EXTREMEtenna 80. I am very happy with my purchase. I decided to put up an antenna after Direct TV decided to stop carrying the local Fox and NBC stations due to a contract dispute. I first purchased an antenna advertised to receive signals from 150 miles away. I used my umbrella stand and placed it on a pole on my deck. It didnโt work very well but I was happy it received the local Fox station so I could watch most of the Seahawks games again. I also received Telemundo and ION. However, I couldnโt get any other major networks. Hoping to get a few more channels, I purchased a Clearstream 2Max that I hooked up a Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT HDTV Preamp. Unfortunately, it didnโt do any better than my cheap 150 mile antenna. I then tried out a small RCA Yagi and connected it to the wine guard preamp. I ended up getting a total of 7 stations including 4 additional PBS stations. It would occasionally pull in another 9 stations including ABC and/or CBS, but not often. NBC was also impossible to get with the yagi setup. Determined to get more stations, I began researching how to get better reception. I learned a lot from watching You Tube videos by a guy named Danny Hodges. He has a You Tube Channel called Southern Ideas and it has a lot of good information about antennas including how to make your own. I did what he said and made an an antenna out of wood with copper whiskers. When I first tried it out with the Wineguard Preamp, I got 16 stations including CBS and ABC. I still couldnโt get NBC. It performed about the same as the RCA yagi except it did a better job maintaining the signal for CBS (i.e. the signal for CBS was much stronger and didnโt constantly disappear). While testing alternative antennas, I wasnโt paying enough attention and I connected the wire that was supposed to be going to the transformer on the antenna to the connector on the Wineguard preamp thatโs was going to the tv. I also connected the wire that was supposed to be going to the TV to the other connector on the preamp. Unfortunately, I fried the Wineguard preamp. Because my homemade copper whisker antenna performed the best of all the antennas I tested, I decided to buy the Channel Master EXTREMEtenna 80 which was bigger but similar in design to my homemade antenna. I also bought the channel master preamp because of its variable db gain feature and It appeared to be fairly durable based on the reviews I read. Anyhow, I am so glad I bought Channel Masterโs antenna and preamp. I live in a somewhat low lying area with hills around me and tv towers that are approximately 40 miles away. I now get 18 channels including all the major networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, etc. I now almost never lose reception of any of my stations other than occasionally losing NBC (channel 25.1 and its other station 25.3). Still NBC come in well most of the time. The antenna is still attached to the pole on my deck and I am no longer paying Direct TV $130.00 a month.

Impressed as always with Channel Master product
MM-7777HD arrived quickly, well packaged, appears to be good quality. However the 1st unit would not switch between Hi and Lo. Exchanged and the 2nd unit arrived within a few days and works extremely well. Easy to install and boosted my channel count and quality on stations 55 to 65 miles away. Picture quality also improved significantly with no pixelation on any channels. I am receiving all the channels in the Orlando, Fl area including PBS which broadcasts with a lower power than the other surrounding area stations. PBS would not even come up before I installed the amplifier. Heavy powder coated cast iron casing, not plastic and should weather for many years. Long time user of Channel Master products and not disappointed in this amplifier yet. Using with a Channel Master antenna that has been up for 15 years and has taken hurricanes with 130 MPH + winds and relentless sun with virtually no signs of wear. Even the plastic connectors for the aluminum fins have shown no wear. I also replaced the original Channel Master balum which was still working well with their CM3203 Balum which seems to be a much more durable heavy duty metal casing construction. I had put the external antenna up originally for emergency long time cable tv downtimes after storms . I have recently cut the cable with Comcast when my bill jumped over $40.00 a month and also upgraded all the coax with C.M. cables and installed a OTR Tivo DVR so my wife could record her PBS craft shows. Could not be happier.

Outstanding Pre-AmpโWorks Exactly As It Should (If You Know What You're Doing)
I've been using the Channel Master Amplify for several years now, and it's hands down one of the best TV antenna preamplifiers out there. It has everything you'd want in a quality pre-amp: adjustable medium-to-high gain (17โ30 dB), built-in LTE/5G/FM filtering to cut interference, and the flexibility of both power over coax and direct-connect power options. This preamp is designed exactly how a good one should be: it's meant to preserve and boost a good signal at the source, not magically create one from nothing. If your antenna isn't receiving a usable signal in the first place, no preampโthis one or any otherโwill fix that. The best a preamp can do is deliver to your TV the same signal quality your antenna is receiving at the source (e.g., if you connected your TV directly to the antenna outdoors). Some negative reviews here seem to misunderstand how preamps work. If someone installs this amp and still canโt get good results, the problem is likely the antenna or it's placement, not the amp. A negative review of this product only holds weight if the reviewer got clearly better results with a different brand amplifierโwhich I highly doubt in most cases, because physics is physics. This amp is top-tier in performance and features. For anyone who understands what a preamp can (and canโt) do, and installs it correctly (especially placing it close to the antenna), this is a fantastic piece of equipment. Highly recommended.

NO SIGNAL AFTER INSTALLED / DEAD / CHANNEL AMATURE (NOT MASTER)
Dead on arrival / a giant waste of my time! I installed the channel master CM-7777HD Amplify Adjustable Gain TV Antenna as per the directions in my attic with the amp having only about 18" of coax between the antenna and it. I ran a new plug to power the unit with the power adapter, so I did not have to use the power inserter. After completing the install, I immediately had zero signal. PLEX stopped playing live TV, and none of my TV's received any signal via the rg6U quad shield coax that I have running to them. I rechecked the directions, and my connections to be sure I didn't make a mistake. My install was spot on correct. I uninstalled the channel master 7777HD, and I immediately had signal once again. I still need an amp so I can distribute the signal throughout our house, but at least I have enough signal to run my media server for now. To say I'm not happy with the circle-jerk / waste of my time / exercise in futility this has been is possibly the understatement of the year. Channel amature seems to be more appropriate to me right now for this product! 10/23/19: UPDATE: I returned this unit and ordered another identical one after calling their tech support to determine for sure this unit was dead. Long story short is that their "technician" gave me incorrect information when I called because he apparently didn't know what he was talking about. Their printed install information along with the information I was given over the phone ARE NOT CORRECT for my situation. HUGE WASTE OF MY TIME AGAIN trying to get the 2nd Channel Amature unit installed. FINALLY, I did get the 2nd unit working correctly after searching the internet and piecing together the correct installation configuration for my particular situation from sources other than Channel Amature. There is no excuse not knowing the equipment you sell, and giving wrong installation information.

Little effect
I ordered two amplifiers, this one and a Winegard LNA-200 Boost XT HDTV Preamplifier. Ended up keeping the Winegard. It was more consistent. Also, the ability to choose between two levels of amplification on the Channel Master made little difference. And, as far as I can tell, if you install it at the antenna end and use the power injector to power it, there is no way to switch between the two levels. That's done by a switch on the amplifier itself, so it has to be accessible. The return to Channel Master was easy. Hope this helps. George

USB power inside house !!
I want to write a review to specifically answer thoughts you might have that are not easily known until you receive the amplifier in the mail. Here is the most important thing and then I will explain why I am writing this review: I live in a small town in Central Texas about 30-60 miles away from the closest broadcast stations. When I initially set up my outdoor passive Antenna (70 mile antenna - about $40 from amazon) and pointed it toward the nearest towns with broadcast signal, I only received 8 channels (without amplifier). We had only 8 channels for about six months. I didn't want to pay $70 a month for cable or satellite service as I am getting closer to retirement. After I installed this CM-7777HD amplifier, we went up to 25 channels! OK, here is what you need to know. I was all worried about the outdoor power going to the amplifier. I wanted to install the amplifier at the antenna to boost the low power signals we were receiving at the antenna, not the signals after they went through 125 feet of RG6 coax cable.I figured I had a better chance of boosting the signals by the antenna, than after a few ohms of resistance in 125 feet of cable, and trying to install the amplifier next to the TV. Anyway, here is what I liked. The amplifier needs to only be powered up initially to select or LOW or HIGH gain. Then you can unplug it and install it outside. So I installed the amplifier outside by the antenna with some zip ties and electrical tape to shield the connections a little better, and I installed the provided power splitter inside my house by the TV cable outlet. BAM!! I checked outside and the green light was on at the amplifier outside! I was so happy. I didn't want to run power outside. I wanted the power indoors, and the amplifier outdoors. This amplifier was the perfect solution for my needs, and really made me happy that I could power the amplifier from inside my house, versus direct power outside. That's it. That's my review. I love it, we went from 8 channels (with 3 spotty channels that would go in and out if there was fog or rain), to 25 strong channels! So happy!

Fantastic device, works great. Way better than the winegard I replaced with it. Hit buy!
All I can say is WOW! Replaced a very poorly made Winegard powered preamp with this Channel master beauty. The Winegaurd power unit was poorly made and kept shorting out ...I actually had two units and both had the same issue. When functioning properly the wineguard barely pulled in most of the U.S. channels. In bad weather, most stopped receiving. The channel master is way better built, the power supply is solid. I am on the lake in Toronto. See the pic, thatโs Buffalo / Niagara in the background. I now get every single U.S. station in Buffalo NY, continuously and without any interference ...this thing works like a charm. It is set on the low amp setting. Very easy to setup. The indicator light on the amp at the antenna end is a nice touch. I am so glad I got this product.

Powerful amp
Great amp! Immediately stabilized several Buffalo-Rochester channels, that were otherwise iffy from Mississauga. Setup was easy, manual was concise with both outside/inside setups amp setups. Nice bonus is the extra inline power adapter to USB power the amp from inside the house while the amp was setup outside. Mine is setup before a cable splitter to two TVs. USB power is from one tv location, but does fully power up the outside amp. Didnโt get any new channels, but happy enough the weaker channels Iโd only get on an overcast day, now come in strong ... no more poor signal or stuttering video.

Works as expected
I had high expectations from this device after watching many reviews. I did spent time to investigate if this product would do any good in my case and decided to go for it. I have an average outdoor antenna (clearstream c4-v-cjm) attached to the side of my house and about 100 ft cable with a two-output splitter for two TVs. In the high gain mode, I was able to go from 15 channels to 32. It improved reception of the channels I had issues with before. I highly recommend the product*. * if you live in i.e. a rural area where you don't have any reception at all - don't assume the amp will magically bring the broadcasting stations closer - you still have to be within the range.

A Very good quality product !!! made in Bulgaria !!
The quality of the amplification and its filtering system are both very good. The sturdiness and quality of the box is very strong and probably will withstand good temp. variations. Finally, in my particular case, around the Montreal, Qc. area , I was amazed to find that I did not have to use the second setting on db gain ( the higher one) to get a good number of signals from the Burlington area. Mind you I have quite a big and powerful antenna that I designed and built myself as per tips on U-tube from an old timer from down south in the USA, and this of course beats many commercially sold models. Bye All !!! mfm

Junk
Installed the item as per instructions. Scanned for channels and only received 1 channel, compared to 18 channels I received before installing the item. I tried both high and low adjustments and had the same results. By installing this device I lost channels instead of gaining some which were not clear before the installation. I removed it and re-installed the device which came with my antenna and was able to regain the lost channels. I do not recommend.
