So far really good
Early results are pretty darn good. Installed under the back seat of my gf JKU and it really woke the sound up! The installation was as you would expect, I would recommend the wiring set that is sold separately so as If you are a novice, you'll have everything you need. Only thing I wish was that the wire from the head unit to the sub were a little thicker, otherwise it's definitely a cost effective alternative to big time brands. The 8 filled the sound gaps really seamlessly

sounds solid and punchy, easy to install..great value for the money
hello...i have a jeep jk sport...basic as could be... I really enjoy music and as time went on I wished I bought an "upgraded" jeep with premium sound. Well I up graded all 4 speakers 2 in sound bar and 2 in lower dash..that made a difference but not "bumping" as I would like... I would crank up a song I loved and it sound good...but loud-if that makes sense-..so I searched amazon for a while and decided to buy this amplified subwoofer, mainly because I saw others who owned Jeeps bought this and was happy. So I purchased this subwoofer and a separate amp install kit that had long power wire, weatherproof fuse, eyelets, zip ties ect....found that here on amazon...so this amp arrived, and what do you know?! Q20 happened...now I have plenty of time to install this amp...using the wires from the install kit i ordered separate,...I searched for a perfect spot to install this amp////thinking i could mount under the front seats..... it didn't fit...I could have mounted it to the rear door as seen in pics on this product description, but i already have rear view camera wires there...I could have mounted anywhere in the jeep with the provided mounts, but I did not want to drill or screw holes in my jeep...so I found simply laying it behind drivers seat (i have 2 door jeep) was perfect...yep just kind of sits there on an angle and doesn't slide around...I ran power wire and "switched" hot wire to the amp, I used "high input" supplied wires due to the ease of accessing the left/tight speaker outputs from the right roll bar under foam protecting,,,I found wire colors on google...very easy.... I found a great ground on the side if the center console....inch's away from the amp...I removed both securing bolts, slid ground up behind console so the eyelet was directly on console mounting bracket and lowered console back down and re-secured factory bolt.....no holes drilled!!! then the control switch was super easy...I ran that up under roll bar cover down the side, out by drivers sun visor and mounted control switch above rear view mirror....I did secure that into the plastic molding....no holes drilled into the vehicle body!...once installed and a few moments of tweaking....I test drove the jeep with the amp on and was very impressed! I am very happy with the "remote" to control bass output...and location I placed it... now songs sound loud without being "loud" and the bass music can be felt! vibrates the jeeps floor boards! I listen to Sirius Lithium, Ozzy's Boneyard, Pop Rock's, Hit's One, Rush, Stone Temple Pilots, SoundGarden, ect...just to give you an idea of types of music....the bass addition makes music sounds full complete loud warm and rich! If you are looking for as I just described, this is a great choice..... if you want to be the guy that goes thump thump with lousy distortion and want to be heard blocks away, this is too good for you... this is an affordable quality good looking full rich sounding bass that can be adjusted per song as needed with the supplied wired remote switch....easy to install....took me 3 hours because I wanted it perfect looking- I tie strapped and cloth taped all wires to give a minimal intrusive look...If i had to do it in a rush it could have taken me an hour....and the best part...besides looking good and sounding good....there is no engine noise or whining through this bass system.. very nice...

Not a wide range of frequencies, but kicks it at 60-80 hz and vibrates your chest
This speaker both exceeded my expectations and disappointed me. It doesn't have a good range of frequencies, it really only "lights up" between 60-80 hz. If you're an audiophile and want good lows throughout the full range, this is not for you. However, 60-80 hz is the frequency range that makes that chest-thump feeling, meaning this speaker punches way above its size and price in terms of "feeling" loud. It gives me a good chest vibration feeling, and although I wish it would have a better range of frequencies and could go louder, it did surprise me how loud and powerful feeling it is for its size. TL;DR: Not for audiophiles, but if you just want some chest-vibrating oomph in a small and relatively inexpensive package, this works great for that.

Good sub!
In the trunk of an '04 VW Jetta (no chance of an under-seat option with this sub with this car model) this thing adds a respectable amount of low end to a stock system. It's not going to blow the doors off, but like most other reviews already mention - when it comes down to the size there is just no better alternative (not to mention price). The sound quality is great, the factory settings for low pass and gain didn't need much adjustment once I was at that stage. The head unit subwoofer settings were very responsive and audible from the sub with small changes. I do have some issues with build quality. The black plastic riser for the auto on/off switch fell off. I don't have high hopes for it sticking around for the duration. The unit can still be powered on and off by using a small tool (pencil/pen end) to press the button in the housing when the riser is missing if needed. The mounting system is sketchy at best, so I created one. The mounts are a flexible rubber, and are fixed to the sub with small machine screws that must thread their way into predrilled, but not pre-threaded holes. Lastly, while not an issue with build quality, the blue LED on the dash bass dial is crazy bright and had to be covered with electrical tape. The dimensions in the product description are correct - it measures 12.4 x 11 x 2.7-inches. It might be helpful to note that the connection ports are on the longest (12.4-in) side for those interested in trying to fit this into a tight spot, that orientation could be important. Despite the small issues I have, I still have to give this sub 5/5... but it's day 2. I will be sure to update this review once I have had more than a couple days with it installed in the vehicle. EDIT - After using this for 5 months I still am really impressed. However, I have at several points been concerned with the heat that this thing just does NOT shed well at all. It's not a contact burn kind of thing, but definitely very hot. If I were in a warmer climate I would likely take steps to find my own method to cool this thing off.

Best little sub around!!
I purchased this as the final audio upgrade for my 2012 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4. It has been over 30 years since I last tinkered with car audio installations myself, but after a bit of research I decided to give it a go. I utilized a PAC-LOC to connect it to my factory head unit via the front 6x9 door speaker output wires, and mounted the sub under the driver’s seat. Wiring the LOC to the head unit front L&R speakers was the most tedious aspect of the entire installation, but worked perfectly. IMO anyone with a little knowledge about car audio electronics who takes the time to research car-specific installation recommendations and is willing to approach the install in a planned and methodical manner could install this amazing little subwoofer. By far the best $100 I have spent in a long time. Everything works as described, the sound quality is amazing and for a single 8” woofer this thing packs a punch. It is easy to adjust bass levels when switching from one style of music to another, and I have blasted music from acoustic to Metallica and have yet to turn the sub level past 1/2 of full power. Great product, great price, easy to install and more low end than I could ever want!

Great compact sub at a great price!
Finally a compact sub that fits in my vehicle! I have a 2011 Chev Colorado single cab. When I got the sub I was pretty happy with the quality of the sub itself. Pretty solid, Well made. So I put it in behind my drivers seat. I have the stock Chevrolet speakers still in the truck but had upgraded the stock radio to a Sony deck. I had BestBuy put it in hoping it sounded ok with the thought that if it did I would buy another. So I had them run 4 gauge power wire from the battery to a power distribution block on the wall behind the seat. the block is 4 gauge to 8 gauge. These subs use 8 gauge power wire I don't believe the 4 gauge will fit properly. So anyhow I was very happy with the sound. Not real overpowering but nice and clean heavy bass. If your looking for a thumper these are not for you. I got home from BestBuy and ordered the 2nd right away. I just put it in today and wow it really sounds great with 2 of them! Pretty damn loud! I really have not even had the time to make any adjustments yet so I'm sure once I start playing with some settings I will be even happier. Oh and I love having the remotes for the subs mounted within hands reach under the dash to control the sub level. 2 subs for under 200 bucks! great deal! Especially when yo don't have a lot of room!

Good little subwoofer.
Update: I'm now been using this sub for about three weeks, and am still pleased with it. Some things you may want to know: My car has a lot of road noise, and with the rear seats up (trunk enclosed) this sub has trouble overpowering the road noise, even when fully cranked. However, with the rear seats down and the speaker exposed to the cabin, it has more than enough volume to drown out the road noise. In addition, during a three hour drive in 95 degree heat, it did overheat a few times near the end of my drive... I had my rear seats up. The sub protects itself from damage while overheating, but it will switch off for a few minutes. I do not believe I'll have this problem with the rear seats down and my car's air conditioning able to reach the sub, however. Basically, I would make sure you install this sub in a place where it shares the cabin with the driver. --- Original review: I bought this guy to replace my Infinity Basslink, which crapped out after 3 months. Technically it's replacing two Infinity Basslinks, both of which crapped out with the same problem within 3 months of being installed - here's a hint, never buy an Infinity Basslink. I had this Rockville 8" powered sub installed sideways in the trunk of my Scion FR-S, where it takes up very little space and looks quite nice. It's not nearly as loud as the Basslink was, which is technically two 10" speakers, but then the Basslink is not very loud at all after it inevitably breaks. I'm 31; I grew up with huge subwoofers and amps in my cars but am past that now. I upgraded the stock system in my FR-S with new Alpine front speakers and this subwoofer, and it pretty well gets the job done. I do have to crank up the Rockville to get the level of volume I'm looking for, but it can produce it. Much louder than this (like my Basslink could put out) and you quickly get to the point where the rattling of your trunk/car ruins the sound quality anyway. In a lot of ways, then, this is an ideal subwoofer. If you're not looking for huge bass, why not find a unit that looks great, is cheap, and takes up very little space? My car is very small, and I hate to lose any more luggage space than I have to. I'm pleased with my purchase right now and will let the good readers of Amazon know if this unit doesn't last either.

My speakers louder then subwoofer.. Only gives me shake cs under my seat
All the reviews say it is loud, not true... I have 2009 4runner with original system and no subwoofer... Guess what, my speakers are louder in bass than this subwoofer... It gives a kick up to 1/4 of volume, after when you go louder, my speakers produce more base... I feel good massage for my butt tho and thats why 2 stars)))
