Works Really Well
Pumps well from 26 feet. Static water is at 22 feet. Static water to top of pump is about 26 feet. That is the important part to know. Total drop pipe to top of pump is 34 feet. It can pop off the lid when pumping so I am buying some M8 or 5/16 nylon washers to stop the handle from jiggling around. I wish it came with at least two nylon stop nuts for the handle. You need a check valve at the bottom of the pipe. It has plenty of extra rubber parts. 1 installed and 3 extra. Pumped 5 gallons in about a minute, not bad. Will probably pickup a second one as a spare.

The Real thing
We bought this pump a year ago, and replaced the old Cast Iron pitcher pump in an over 100 year old cellar under the old farm house we bought and remodeled. We looked at buying another cast iron one but by the time I added repair parts this one was much better deal, and included spare parts. This is the real thing I can see this must be intended for the third world market where it would be used Daily.Being made from stainless steel and rubber (not iron and leather) it should serve me the rest of my life.If you are looking for a real pump and not old timely charm, I highly recommend it.This picture was taken when we first were temporarily testing the hand pump and the electric pump.Notice the jug of water used to prime it.Now we have a hand back up if the power goes out, just like the old system.

Works well for me!
We wanted to use the unchlorinated water from an old "bored" well at the back of our property for watering small garden plots and plants/shrubs/trees around our property. The stainless steel pump works very well, but luckily I already had black plastic pipe with a footvalve (check valve at bottom).I think the manufacturer should have put some bushings on sides of handle where it pivots, but the pump works fine without them. The extra seals are an added bonus.

Shoddy workmanship.
It would appear that a five year old welded this thing together. The weld on the inside is sharp and uneven. The rubber gasket in there will rip apart after one use. Total garbage.

Works good
Pounded a new Sandpoint to the tip of the point is 28 feet about 5 feet of water in the pipe. I think I might need to go down farther still in the hard pan. Great suction with it I was still able to bring up the water with quite a bit of resistance.

No rust like cast iron pumps, SS and plastic parts at a good price should last in damp locations
I have water lines from a shallow well into my basement. This pump should not rust. It is for occasional use during power outages for flushing toilets etc. Since the top is open, I'd treat or filter drinking water.

It pumps
Would have been 5 stars but:I had to add polyethylene washers so that the pump handle stayed centered in the brackets. See pictures. Washers should have been supplied. The piston shaft does not stay vertical throughout the pumping stroke. That's probably why a pump cover wasn't supplied. So the barrel of the pump is open to the elements. I'll probably cover the opening with duct tape when not in use to keep stuff from falling in. Maybe I'll figure out a more permanent solution. On the plus side, the pump came with a bunch of replacement flanges and flaps, so the stainless steel pump should last a long long time.I tested the pump in my kitchen sink and it pumped fine. I'll find out this summer when I drive a shallow well to see if it can pump water from 10 meters down.
