FOR GROWN UPS
I've been a fan of these "Claymation" animated presentations since 1990 when the feature movie called "Creature Comfort" won the Academy Award' in it's category. The "brains' behind that feature have gone on to do a television series, by the same name (except now the title is plural), of which this two DVD presentation is seasons one and two that contains a host of "new" characters. The creators of "Creature Comforts" the series continue the most hilarious tradition that they started with the original feature movie. My god, these series are so darn funny. I feel that it is indeed "cartoons" for "Grown ups"as were many of the "Looney Tunes" cartoons. Kids, of course, can enjoy them too; however, to me, it takes some real "life experience" to fully appreciate the humor therein because it, for the most part, is rather subtle. This series posses questions that most of us face every day to hilariously animated animals that are made of clay. These clay cartoon characters answer these questions (some rather serious ones) using (of course, supplied by wonderful actors) accents (British, American, Spanish, etc.) .that are hysterical. In addition, to these question and answer sketches there is usually something very funny going on in the background. Therefore, one gets more and more out of each sketch upon multiple viewings. Some of the questions posed and answered couldn't be with human subjects because some sketches do border on the "politically incorrect".Above all these series are extremely funny. Therefore, if you want a really good laugh buy these DVDs.

Really quite clever and fun!
Big fan of BBC and English humor. Had the original Creature Comforts on VHS, and I was so sad that the volume was so mishandled. I could barely hear the interviews and the video quality was pretty poor (even for the time). I left the series alone for many years and quietly hoped that they would be resurrected and improved. I finally decided to go for it, and I have been very pleased.Pros-Sound and Video quality is much better.-The format means that the clips are super fast. These are like little cookies: they taste great and are gone before you even get started.-The interviews are incredible! I enjoy watching the shows and trying to picture those people being interviewed. They really picked great clips from the bulk. I spent some years in England as a child, I get all sentimental remembering while I listen.-The claymation is fantastic!-The humor is so dry; very English (which I happen to enjoy)Cons-Volume is still an issue. The recording was obviously not in a studio. It does help add the the flavor of the clips, though, and they did extremely well dealing with all of the noise on the tape.-If you are not in to dry wit, this will probably be pretty slow for you. You might still enjoy some of the visual/physical humor, but the dialogue will grate on you.

where mundanity becomes hilarity
you've got to admire the simple brilliance of "person-on-the-street" interviews coupled with aardman's outstanding claymation and subtle visual gags. the true test of a great concept is the number of creative directions in which it can be modified, yet still retain its essence -- and on this level, "creature comforts" delivers.fans of dry british humor (i'm one myself) will love this; snippets of talking claymation animals discussing their day-to-day lives in a variety of scenarios (the ocean, the veterinarian, the circus, working pets, etc.) there are plenty of laugh-out-loud instances here, and it's charming. the crisp pacing works extremely well, too; at times, the silences are as funny as the jokes (you'll see what i mean).in my estimation, the layered comedy of "CC" is a direct descendant of the classic "looney tunes" cartoons. kids can just sit back and enjoy the hilarious visuals, while perceptive adults can have fun dissecting the in-jokes, sly references and everyday humor to which we can all relate.(FYI: due to the variety of accents here, i recommend subtitles so you don't miss any laughs!)

Aardman Productions Creature Comforts.
Creature Comforts is excellent. With comments taken from interviews with the British public, the humour is both natural and appealing. Watch for the funny antics of creatures in the background, they are often as funny as the main narrative. From mildly humorous to side-splitting, Creature Comforts is addictive. You won't be satisfied by watching single episodes; you will be tempted to watch the lot in one sitting. Creature Comforts is highly recommended.

Original and Supremely entertaining
This DVD is the realization of a great idea by Nick Park to animate interviews with members of the public as though the interview was done with an animal. The characterization of the animals is one level of humour, the double-meanings introduced by the circumstance another, so is the inherent humour of the many accents and phrases that come from each interviewee and the superb animation to characterize and accentuate it.The comedy doesn't bow to crudeness or smut, and can be enjoyed by all.I am sure that this will at some level make everyone who watches it laugh with delight at some point and come to appreciate a new kind of humour - the creative genius that is "Creature Comforts".Don't miss out on this one.

annoying repetition
We were eager to see the British version after enjoying the American so much. We found that each segment was quite short; preceded by an long irritating cartoon intro and followed by the complete list of everybody who'd ever worked on it. After eight or nine repetitions of these sets everyone was bored with watching the CD and we turned it off. General consensus was that the segments weren't as funny as the American version, making sitting through the intro/credits simply not worth it.
