Zymox Enzymatic Shampoo for Dogs and Cats, 12oz

I don't have the words to tell you the difference Zymox shampoo, rinse, and the ear drops have made in the lives of my 6 rescue dogs! Every single one of them came out of horrific abuse situations. Their coats were shocking messes, in some cases, a lot of their fur was missing, and some even had sores on them from being left outside, neglected for years and years, and having been severely bug bitten. All of them were chewing themselves...filthy, pitiful, skeletal specimens...bless their hearts... on the day they each came to live here with us to get a fresh start. With two of my rescues, you couldn't even tell what color they were when I found them - and with one, you couldn't even tell what kind of dog she was, she was such a mess. That poor little skeleton with almost no hair turned out to be a gorgeous Corgi!! Imagine my surprise and delight! At 13, she now looks half her age, and ready for the show stages! lol While Princess Granny may not be headed for Westminster, the fluffy white parts on her coat now shine just like a show dog, and miracle of miracles, she no longer chews herself. No more hot spots. No more foot chewing. When she got here, she had such a bad problem with hot spot, I didn't know if I'd ever be able to find her any real relief. Even the spray from the vet only worked AFTER she got a new spot and she would cry from the pain- but Zymox shampoo changed ALL of that for her. This product is amazing!!!!! If I wrote Zymox's praises all day, you still wouldn't have a clear idea of just what it can do. The animals I help are not regular pets. They're all animals who have been, in some cases, for 10 years or more, subjected to horrors no dog should ever know. Part of their therapy and healing process is dealing with their health issues, including coats you'd probably think were hopeless at a glance...but with Zymox, they not only all grew stunning, beautiful coats, their allergies and itching all went away even after having suffered a lifetime of neglect!!! (Zymox products + a good grain free/potato free food = WOW!) While searching for answers to help the Corgi, I read about Zymox on an online forum. Now, I wish i could go back and find the person who tipped me off and give them a virtual hug and a kiss. The expensive groomer's shampoos and conditioners I'd used for years don't hold a candle to what Zymox can do for your dogs. You'll see results right away! Buying this along with the Rinse and the Ear drops has been a total life changer for all of them, and I'll never use anything else. To top it all off, it makes them smell so good that people who come into your home won't smell "dog". They'll say: "Oh, what smells so good?" and you can then point at your dogs and say "You're smelling their shampoo!" lol I cannot recommend this product highly enough, but if I could, I'd give it 6 stars!!!

Love this shampoo. I Used it for my dog when she had a bad skin fungal infection. I had adopted her from a shelter and noticed a tiny patch of hair missing on her face but didn't think it was anything. It continued to get larger and larger and she was scratching and the area started blistering and getting angry red. The vet prescribed medication which wasn't doing anything. so I scoured the Internet to find alternative help for her skin. And I came across the Zymox enzyme shampoo. And the Zymox enzyme rinse. I use both products as a treatment. Within 1 day of using both shampoo and the rinse I noticed a decrease in my dog scratching. In fact she pretty much stopped. The blistering that she had decreased in redness. There were no new patches on her skin or new fur coming out and within a few days I knew the fungal infection was being Beaten and my dog's skin was healing. Over several weeks her fur grew back in and now looks normal. It's been 4 years since the fungal skin problem and it has never returned. I now only use this shampoo and the conditioner. I won't use any other brand. I Bathe my dog about 4 times a year. The smell of the enzymatic shampoo is fabulous. I just love it when my girl has had a bath. Her coat is so shiny, fluffy and soft. I've had people comment on her healthy coat and I tell them what shampoo I use. And that she also eats grain free. I have recommended the shampoo to a friend whose dog had skin allergy and bad odor. She used the enzymatic shampoo and said it helped her dog considerably.

My dog is a Wheaten Terrier and has always had chronic ear and skin problems (mostly yeast infections that make him itch so bad he gets secondary bacterial infections from irritation to the skin) . More so when he was younger, but they always pop up at least once a year. At first, I spent hundreds of dollars in vet bills (I am sure it's well over a thousand!) The last few years I was able to keep them at bay with apple cider vinegar rinses (yes, it does work). Well, a few months ago we had a lot of rain, and he developed a really bad skin infection...lots of itching and redness and scabs- and the smell!!! UGH. Like corn chip funk! Gotta love doggy skin yeast infections!! Took him to the vet and was given antibiotics. Well, that cleared up the secondary infection from biting and scratching but he soon developed an ear infection and an even worse yeast overgrowth. Within one week his ears were the worst I have ever seen. And the smell was from his ears AND skin so I knew his skin had it too. He would get bathed and smell good for 2 days and then smell like he hadn't been washed in a year. Vet said they rate yeast on a scale of 1-4 and his was a 10. The poor guy was spending all day itching and looking pitiful! The skin on his belly had that black waxy discoloration too. Well....long story but after 3 weeks and two different ear medications his ears were only a tiny bit better. (problem is antibiotics often worsen yeast infections) I went online and saw the reviews for Zymox and they seemed pretty promising so I purchased the ear solution, shampoo and rinse. I got all three and didn't really expect miracles but decided it was worth a try. The day i got it, i used the shampoo, the leave in rinse, and the ear solution. The NEXT day - no lie - ears were 80% better. Skin is still smelling fresh 3 days later and the redness is pretty much gone,the black discoloration is decreasing and the skin is showing some pinkness again. Oh, and his ears on day 3 look almost back to normal. Still some itching but definitely improved. Some reviewers said they use the shampoo and rinse once or twice a week until completely cleared up so I will do that too. SO far I am a firm believer in this stuff......I will wait and see just how well it works a few week from now and update this review. For now, I am a happy camper and so is my fur baby!

My cocker spaniel puppy who doesn't seem to itch much, smells CRAZY terrible! I took him to the vet to get an opinion but the vet said he was fine and that cocker spaniels are just naturally smelly dogs. This is my first dog and I'll admit I don't know a lot about dog care yet, but I just couldn't believe it. There is no way a dog is supposed to smell like a damp sweaty mushroom patch and I doubt he's a happy dog smelling the way he does. his odor can knock a person out. I decided to try washing him twice a week with several different shampoos that are available from local supermarket/drugstores to see what would work but I think those shampoos made him smell even worse. It was like he was having a reaction to the ingredients or something (particularly the flea and tick formulas)and his glands were working on overdrive. As soon as he was dried, he would smell even worse than before. Pretty soon my husband wanted me to leave him outside in the yard... permanently. I didn't want to give up, so after much research, I changed his food from Pedigree to a limited ingredient food and added salmon oil to his diet. But the holistic approach only helped a little and I still needed to find a shampoo that didn't make him smell bad. Then, I ran across Zymox medicated shampoo on Amazon and gave it a try. The shampoo is thick and rich. It lathers great and has a very pleasant scent. But it was the results that I'm most amazed at. Oh my goodness! My dog smelled so good and looked so clean after his bath, I just wanted to kiss and hug him. And the fresh scent lasts almost a whole week on my dog. I'm so glad for this shampoo. My dog seems a lot happier, too. I know this shampoo is more expensive than the stuff found at supermarkets/drugstores but less is needed in comparison and this shampoo works amazingly. I only use half as much as the supermarket/drugstore brands because it is so rich and concentrated. I highly recommend this product.

This is the only shampoo I use for my Sphynx. Works really well for her sensitive skin.

1st of all let me say this was lightening fast delivery! I ordered this past Saturday & it arrived on Tuesday! The bottle was wrapped securely so that it didn't leak while being delivered. I ordered this along with several other products for my furbaby Moulan. She is a 12 yr old cat with lots of allergy issues. Every time I take her to the vet it costs around $150 for them to prescribe medicine for her skin & ears. She will be good for about a month or so, but then the same issues come back. It's so frustrating. She will scratch & lick herself to the point of balding & bleeding. I feel so bad for her because she is a sweet loving cat when she is feeling good. I'm hoping that with all of the things I have ordered for her I can get in under control. Below is all of the products I ordered to help her with her allergies. After reading tons of reviews on amazon I decided to order the Zymox Medicated Pet Shampoo (which arrived already), 12-Ounce, Pet King Brand Zymox Otic Enzymatic Solution for Pet Ears, 1.25 Ounces, Zymox Medicated Antibacterial Pet Rinse, 12-Ounce, Zymox Pet Spray with Hydrocortisone, 2-Ounce, Zymox Ear Cleanser With Bio-Active Enzymes, 4 oz., KONG EZ Soft E-Collar for Cats and Dogs, Small, Chlorpheniramine 4 Mg Tabs 100 Ct Bottle, & Pet Piller (all from amazon & still waiting on these to come in). I gave her a bath this morning for the 1st time & she meowed a lot during it. I don't think it was due to her being in pain though, just that she didn't want a bath. The shampoo smells wonderful & left my hands feeling super soft. All the scabs & dried blood washed off with ease. Her coat smells & looks really good too. The spots on her body where she is bald or has inflammation/redness seems way better then it was prior to her bath. I will update again after I'm able to give her another bath once the rest of the stuff comes in. UPDATE 2-13-13 So I'm still giving her a bath about once a week to help with her skin allergies. This shampoo doesnt seem to bother her, unlike the medicated rinse that I purchased with this. Her itchy, sore skin is no longer inflamed or has sore, but she does has some missing fur in areas (she was balding before though). I'm hoping now that she seems to have her allergies under control she will grow it back though.

I can't fault this shampoo because I used it on my rabbit and not a dog. My rabbit was having terrible urinary issues; all the fur on her backside was urine-soaked 24/7. She's a mini-rex with dense, super-fine, chinchilla-like fur which does not dry, even with a hair dryer on it for an hour (we tried). We rarely bathe her - only on rare occasions when her fur was urine-soaked So we shampooed her with this product and all the fur on her backside and genital area sloughed off in big clumps within an hour. *BUT* it turned out to be a BLESSING because her backside was finally DRY! THIS IS PROBABLY WHAT SAVED HER LIFE because we could not get her backside and genital area dry - or clean. If I had known her fur would come out I would not have used the shampoo on her. But I didn't know - thank goodness! Her fur grew back after a couple months (she was very sick and it took her a while to recover fully). I haven't dared to use the shampoo on her again now that I don't need her to lose her fur. Should she have urinary issues and get soaked fur again I will use this shampoo because shaving her is too dangerous (way too easy to nick her fine, fragile skin). She didn't seem at all bothered by the shampoo or fur loss: there was no burning, itching, scaling, nothing - just complete fur loss and fine, fragile skin which stayed dry. I credit a large part of her recovery to the shedding of the wet fur. I believe the shampoo caused the fur to fall out - and I am very grateful!!! But rabbit people should know about this. I wonder if anyone else has tried it on a rabbit and what the results were.

Couldn’t keep my cats ears nearly as clean, let alone the hassle this completely erases vs. just cleaning without this product. TOTAL game changer in terms of breaking up all the oils and gunk. POWERFUL and yet gentle. Won’t use any other product!

Excellent product, recommended by vet to use for older bunny who can’t clean himself where his skin is urine burnt. Cleaned up after one bath, did exactly what vet said it would and more!
