When operating in Nightlight mode, do they come on when the lights go off?

These are motion detector lights which operate only when dark. Consequently they don't work at all during daylight conditions, and turn on during nighttime conditions only when motion is detected. They then turn off after about 20 seconds after motion stops. There are no controls to change the mode of operation. Consequently, if they are used in an area which tends to be rather dark, even during daytime, it is necessary to place the unit on its face to avoid unwanted daytime operation.
