I Am Charlie Wilson

I really enjoyed reading this book . It was very inspirational.

I was under the impression my book would be new.

A must read! Such an inspirational and uplifting story. I couldn’t put it down!

I truly enjoyed the book about Charlie Wilson's life. His story gives people hope. It helps to explain why a person who may seemingly have a pretty decent life would choose to go down a path that is in the opposite direction of what he/she was taught. It basically let's us know that drug usage can alter the brain to the point that a person begins to present as mentally ill. Charlie Wilson's story helps those of us who may have written off someone as beyond hope to recognize everyone can be helped if the right help is offered at the right time. I love Charlie Wilson's music and I am so happy he did not allow that drug addiction to take him out. I loved the Gap Band, but It would have been so sad if we had never heard his new music. If you haven't read this book, please do and recognize it is a story worth reading.

I Am Charlie Wilson is a great read. SURVIVOR is the word that defines his life. From overcoming living in the shadows of talented older siblings, naysayers who were critical of his initial steps toward music, false career starts. Its all here. The financial and business entanglements plaguing throughout the GAP Band's career and during the start of a modern R&B era inspired by their music. The drug addiction. Homelessness. Sibling fallouts that led to the group's demise and the sudden death of his younger brother. Through the pain, tragedy and career setbacks, Charlie overcomes every personal and professional obstacles that claimed many great artists while finding love,support, inner strength and rejuvenation along the way. A great story of a talented artist whose career continues to thrive long after his peers and those who came after him have come and gone. A great book by a great man.

Absolutely loved this book!!!

I m a Hugh fan I have been to about 7 or 8 shows in the New York/New Jersey area. I felt like I knew most of the story because Charlie is very verbal and open about his life. He recognizes the blessing and works hard everyday to stay on the straight and narrow. I knew he loved his wife but now I know how much. I m so glad that Charlie know that with God and his wife he has it together. When they say behind every good man there's a good woman, no truer words has been said I believe Charlie would not had make it without her guidance and tough love. I bow down to you mrs wilson and want to thank you for sharing such a special person with all of us. This was a very inspiring story that " I believe"

Really enjoyed the journey of Charlie Wilson's life and his transformation. Touching, and authentic. I've shared with many friends how much I enjoyed his story. God given gift that was honed to perfection, coming of age in the entertainment business and the drug culture, experiencing the bowels of societal living and finding oneself again, embracing true love and starting out on a new path. Plus it was the first time I learned that the name of the GAP Band was an abbreviation for such an important event in civil rights history. Charlie's silky sound was exposed to an awful lot of grit and grime but he made it through.

Amazing book

Amazing and inspiring man, I have always loved Charlie's voice and reading this book has made me respect him even more. Did not want the book to end!

Loved this book great insight and how triumph through it all fantastic

I have the hardback book, but via the tablet its a better and easier read.

I'm a huge fan of Charlie Wilson, so I'm so pleased the book is good.
