I had a magnet identical to this one that came from Harbor Freight. I've had it for several years and it probably only cost a few bucks so I wasn't too surprised (or upset) when one day it pulled apart. The magnet and the lowest two sections of the telescoping wand just pulled away from the rest of the handle when I went to extend it. Well, for the price it couldn't last forever, and I wasn't sure I could attempt to fix it without mutilating it. Off to Amazon to buy more!This 4-pack of magnets caught my eye and I bought it. I have one on my toolbox, one on my rolling tool cart, and one on each of my two workbenches. I use these magnets a lot when I'm working on cars so I'm glad I have them scattered throughout the shop. The magnets appear to be very strong and the telescoping wands all work fine.You can find cheaper magnetic wands than this (and I own a couple) but they're typically pretty flimsy without a lot of holding power. These are a good value if you need more than one.

I have owned a number of pick-up tools over the years. The combination of the long telescope feature and a strong magnet make it a "handy to have" tool in my tool box.

these are magnets on a extendable pole. they pick up metal pieces. they can pick up fairly heavy things. you can expand them or retract them. they do what they are supposed to do. i haven't used other similar items so i don't know if they are great or bad but i didn't have high expectations. they are satisfactory
