What is the difference between this soft gel and the regular gel? I want to use it for collage.

Soft Gel is a little thinner than the Regular Gel. Both function in the same way, and make an excellent, archival adhesive. Soft Gel is just a little easier to manipulate with a brush.

Does anyone know if you can use alcohol based markers on this when it dries? I've never worked with any type of mediums.

I've only used watercolor on it myself but my guess would be yes. The surface is hard.

How do you use this product and what is the purpose?

I haven't use as of this date...I purchased on the recommendation of an on line class I was taking on scrape booking....to use with water colors when coloring a page/paper...seems it was to give the paint texture,

Can this be used as a final varnish?

You’d be better off using Dorlands wax on watercolor or nothing if it’s going under glass or plexiglass.
