Intel NUC 10 Performance Mini PC (Intel i5-10210U, 256 GB NVMe SSD, UHD Graphics, Windows 10 Home)

I needed a small portable computer for my work and was a little worried these little things wouldn't have the computing power I needed (my desktop sometimes struggles, but it turns out its just ancient). My main concern was that this would need to be able to run 2 spreadsheets both with thousands of formula to calculate and still have room for a couple of tabs open in the background. Turns out these are optimized for office and work an absolute treat. In terms of gaming I was surprised, it can manage something like kerbal space program on low settings. Ideal for indie games. I had read reviews about fan noise, but to be honest when I am using it, it is pretty much maxed out and the fan is hardly noticeable. I expect if you require absolute silence then it may be a bug bear but its hardly louder than a deep breath. i/o isnt fantastic but suits my needs and the overall build quality is good. It feels solid, a little weighty, plus all the i/o lines up well (no misalignment).

This is amazing. It could do with two more USB slots but I knew that already!

This is a wonderful little setup that I’m using connected to a projector. There is a big problem with this pre build though. And that’s the mechanical hard drive. It’s rubbish. You’ll need to add in an m.2 for it to meet its performance potential keeping the HDD for your data or go for the bare bones system and don’t add a mechanical drive to begin with. Apart from that, this little thing is great. So long as you understand the limitations of the Integrated graphics. For me it’s fine. I can project at 4K and will be following the mighty Stockport County on my projector whilst we are all banned from actually attending matches in person
