Best. Waffles. Ever.
I can't imagine anyone not loving this mix but let me address those who say they can get the same results from scratch, or from Bisquick -- those folks are just crazy, plain and simple. LOL. Seriously, this stuff is SO good I can't honestly believe anyone saying anything bad about it.A few things: I make it with buttermilk, so I've never tried it any other way. And only waffles (so far -- might try pancakes with it but I'm loving my new waffle maker, the Presto 03510, which is also unbelievably good and easy to use). I've also refrigerated any unused portion I mixed up and used the next day with equally good results (just adding a bit of milk to make it a bit thinner). So that's super convenient if you want to make, say, one waffle one day and a single one the next.I've had really, really good waffles from eateries all over the country and this beats them all. So good, in fact, that I'm going to make one RIGHT NOW (it will take a total of about 7 minutes from the time I leave my desk to plugging in the maker, making the mix, and cooking the waffle. Can't beat that for fast food!).

Best waffle mix I’ve ever tasted at home!
This waffle mix is the best we’ve had at home! I really didn’t have high expectations as I’ve purchased waffle mixes in the past that claimed to be tasty with a crisp outer layer and a soft inner cake, but became disappointed. The Golden Malted brand is legit. My kids love it and have requested it almost everyday since it arrived. This pairs perfectly with the Mickey Mouse waffle maker (although I’m sure it would pair perfectly with any other waffler). I can make 7 mini waffles with one batch.I’ve also pre-made waffles, stored them in the fridge in a Ziplock bag and reheated them in the toaster the next day. The waffles still have a good texture, not soggy and also still very tasty. Sprinkled a little bit of powdered sugar, melted butter, sliced strawberries and pure maple syrup...YUM! Just like Disneyland! It is on the pricey side though and would like to one day see this item on Subscribe and Save.

Great Product - Horrifying Price
Bought it a year ago: 3 for $30. Will absolutely NOT pay $80 a year later. Shame on you! While I understand the economic principles of supply & demand, I also recognize rampant price gouging!5 star product + 1 star pricing = 3 star review

Carbon's Golden Malted is hard to top
This waffle mix doesn't need another review. You can tell from the raves that this is top quality mix. I just wanted to add a note on preparation. When I first got this it kept turning out a little dry, which was confusing. Other waffle mixes didn't do that with our waffle iron. The taste was perfect... but the moisture content was just a little off. I even wrote to the company and they made some suggestions, but I was still struggling a little. We own the Oster ECO Dura Ceramic Flip Waffle Maker, White . I know there is a lot of debate about ceramic waffle makers but our seems to work great. Anyway, after fiddling with the preparation, today I finally perfected it. Here is how I did it.First I always make sure to mix the wet ingredients first, then add the dry mix. Also, it's important not to over mix the ingredients. It will still be a little lumpy. But what made the difference for us was adding in a little bit of extra butter. I use real butter, which I melt before adding in. This time though, I put in approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons to the mix. That made all the difference. Not only was the taste perfect, the moisture content was spot on as well. This is probably our favorite mix now. Augason Farms Blueberry Pancake Mix #10 Can, 55 oz is right up there as well, but this Carbon's Golden Malted is hard to top. If you are a waffle fan(atic) - this is worth the money.

Holds its own with non-yeasted scratch batters
I bought a Kitchenaid Pro "flip" double waffle maker for us and another one for our son's family. When using milk (instead of water) this mix is virtually as good as most scratch recipes---except for yeasted recipes (e.g. King Arthur's Flour Co. recipe) requiring overnight preparation and/or those which separate the eggs, whip up the egg whites and fold them into the batter. This mix's quick and easy solution can cause problems for those who are not experienced in waffle making. Because it can be whipped up in 5 minutes, some people take the eggs and milk directly from the fridge, mix them and quickly pour the batter into the pre-heated waffle iron. The cold ingredients make a cold batter that plays hell with the proper baking times. When the waffle irons are opened at the preset time, the waffles stick because they are not cooked through. From that point on things go downhill as you're left to guess when the process is done...or overdone. Here's an simple solution if you plan on quick and easy waffles the next morning: before going to bed, take the whole eggs out of the refrigerator and put them on the counter. They will safely be at room temperature when you use them in the morning. Use canned, condensed milk (which requires no refrigeration). In this way all of the ingredients are already at room temperature when you mix them in the morning---no need to wait for the ingredients to reach room temperature. IMHO: the condensed milk gives the waffles a better texture and flavor than regular milk. But DO let the finished batter sit for 5 or 10 minutes to let the baking soda do its job.

Don't go down this rabbit hole
Hi everyone. My name is ranchwilder. I've been a waffleholic for five years now. I keep trying to stop but... well, you know how difficult it can be. I'm not even that much of a fan of waffles, really! So you can imagine how surprised I was when I tried my first Golden Malted waffle. I knew things would be different the moment I poured the batter into my hot, greased Proctor Silex. As I closed the lid a plume of steam spread out across the counter enveloping me in it's heavenly malty scent. My college roommates stopped dead in their tracks on their way to wake & bake and begged for their own. A few painstaking minutes later I popped that sucker out, dressed it in syrup and whipped cream, and sank my teeth into the best damn waffle I've ever had. Man that sounds good right now. What I'm trying to say is, it's 11:30pm and I'm probably going to go make a waffle.
