Can you cook food directly on this grill over open fire?

Yes you can. We use this to barbecue on the wood fire pits when camping. The grill is very well made and we just clean it afterwards with a brush like we do with our grill at home. We keep ours stored in the box it came in the trailer.

It’s really lightweight. Only a couple pounds probably.

what is the height from the ground to the top of the table?

I took the swivel legs off and used bolts and washers to get it to the height I wanted , that would fit the grille

can meat be cooked directly on the grate? does any paint come off the grate?

I have cooked directly on it many times. Never noticed any paint coming off anywhere. I am careful with the spatula
