Easy read fonts, rugged, accurate
I'm a journeyman machinist, retired, doing stuff part time. I ordered many different digital calipers, and like the large displays these have, even better than my mitutoyos. Be warned: I've returned several calipers that only have large fonts for the first or second digit, then the rest are small...this is confusing and negates the large font advantage. I also like the front-button controls, since they're visible next to the display, and I won't accidentally hit them, like some units with the buttons on the underside of the calipers. I also like the buttons that have one function: on/off, zero, inch/mm/fraction. This unit had a multi-function button for on/off and zero. Not a big deal but still not perfect for me. This does display fractions but not a big plus for me, and I wish they would round the fractions to 64ths of an inch, not 128ths. What value is knowing a part is 77/128" anyway? The battery compartment ease of access is a plus. Some units require a screwdriver to access the compartment, which is a pain, especially if you're in the middle of a job and don't have a tiny screwdriver handy. The mechanics are smooth, accurate, and have inside/outside measurements, depth, and step, and all seem to be accurate, although I'll calibrate the measurement I'm doing with precision calibration "donuts", or gauge blocks, if the measurement needs to be super accurate. The battery lasts a long time if you remember to shut it off after use, and a good tip is to lock the carriage when turning if off for the day, and storing it in a drawer, where it might be triggered on, if it's jarred with opening/shutting the drawer, or other action. If you're new to using calipers, practice your measurements on a calibrated material....dowel, gauge block, etc. Your hand strength on the carriage should become uniform, and should only take a light touch to get accurate results. Erratic, or too much pressure during measurements, especially round objects, will create errors. I could go on but hopefully there's some useful information here. I love these calipers. BTW, spend the money and get good quality, stainless units, not plastic, unless you're really strapped for cash. These will last years. "Buy the best you can afford and cry only once; buy inferior calipers and cry every time you try to use them." Nothing worse than cutting a dozen parts, then find they're scrap because the crappy calipers weren't accurate. These are very good calipers.

Great caliper and unparalleled customer service
The DCLR-0805 is a great caliper at a very reasonable price. Fit and finish are beautiful and the caliper is silky smooth to operate. The accuracy and repeatability are spot on and the large display is a pleasure to view. The auto-on and, even more importantly, the auto-off features make these calipers even more impressive. My biggest surprise came when I had a small issue with my first caliper. I emailed Clockwise Tools and, in very short order, heard back from Vick. Vick immediately offered to send a replacement unit and even held off shipping as I was going away before the unit would arrive. On my anticipated return date, Vick reached out to verify that it was okay to ship the replacement caliper; there was no need for me to chase him down or deal with someone else. Well made, feature rich calipers at reasonable prices plus friendly, attentive, customer service have left me thoroughly impressed with Vick and Clockwise Tools. I am extremely particular about my tools and I can comfortably say that there's no need to look any further for a great digital caliper. Note: This is an unsolicited review on a product that I purchased at full retail price.

Good quality caliper for a non-outrageous price
First off, yes this is more expensive (and far better) than other calipers you'll find on Amazon from companies whose name you can't pronounce, or that you'd find at Harbor Freight. That said, they're also not Mitutoyos. For something you use now and again, or for measurements that can be off by a 100th of a mm without planes falling from the sky, these are a great middle of the road option. I use them to measure things as part of 3D printing other things, and for that they're perfect. They're well worth what I paid for them, and Amazon got them to me within 24 hours of clicking buy.

Excellent calipers, especially for the price
Iโve been going without a decent caliper in my garage for a few years, and after getting frustrated trying to โmeasureโ some iron pipe with a measuring tape and eyeballing it, I finally decided I needed to correct that. Iโm glad I did! I found these through some โbest ofโ type review site, which I generally take with a grain of salt anyway, but it popped up a few other unrelated places as well, and it was reasonably inexpensive, so I pulled the trigger. Iโm surprised how often Iโve ended up using it. Itโs proven very accurate, at least down to the thou and maybe more (beyond my ability to say for sure). Really nice to use, smooth operation, quick switching between fractional and decimal inches and even occasionally millimeters, and a good large size that has already proven useful.

Not a Harbor Freight special, and not a Mitutoyo
I'm not a professional machinist. I am a semi-talented amateur however. I own a linear caliper from Harbor Freight, and I occasionally use Mitutoyos at work. I bought this (8") to treat myself This makes the HF calipers look like toys. On the HF, I can close the jaws lightly, then roll the wheel hard and see 0.1mm of change. On this one, I see 0.01mm. This is slightly less smooth than the Mitutoyos at work (running the jaws in and out feels just slightly rough), but functionally it works just as well. Accuracy is fine on a couple of things I checked (within 0.02mm of the Mitutoyo), repeatability is excellent. These are also heavy. But I love the display - something you can read from across the room. Good clear font with good contrast too. It comes with Auto-on (move the jaws and it comes on) and Auto-off, features that a few calipers I looked at buying before this were missing. Roughly the same price as an equivalent Harbor Freight caliper, but twice the value. Roughly the same capabilities and accuracy of a Mitutoyo, but at 1/3 to 1/4 the price. I'm gonna dock it one star, but that's purely for not being quite as smooth as a Mitutoyo. Of course, I can buy three or four of these for the cost of one Mitutoyo.

Nice quality tool seems better than most listed in this price range.
I use this tool for occasional home/hobby use. So far I have used it for measuring some know things like drill bits and wire sizes and it has been spot on. After much looking at other similar items I believe this is a superior product in the price range. It is probably not that same as the $130+ Mitutoyo's but that is not what I needed. I needed a reliable tool that works when I need it a handful of times per year. So far it has done its job well. The only real question left for me is if it will work in a year or two, which is should, without me having to mess with a new battery. It did arrive with a spare 2032 battery that I hope not to need for at least two years. Also, "Vick" from Clockwise tools sent me a couple of unsolicited messages giving me some tips on the tool and just checking to make sure it was working as it should. So overall this seems to be a good seller and good item.

Why don't Clockwise Calipers last?
This is my second Clockwise digital caliper. I only used it once and turned the power off afterwards. One year later I open the box and it is dead. I replaced the battery with a new one, but it still will not power up.

Great calipers, better than expected
Best set of "cheap" calipers I have seen. I work in a place where we use calipers all the time. In the machine shop, we have Mitutoyo and Starrett equipment, and around assembly we use cheaper calipers for checking nominal dimensions of fasteners and frames. These Clockwise calipers are more comfortable than any other set we have...for me, at least. Checked against a set of Mitutoyos, the accuracy and repeatability is identical, and the battery lasts longer. We have a set of Starrett gauging blocks, and I get the same results from the Clockwise calipers as any of our high-end calipers, digital or dial. Because these live in the area where the durability gets tested, I can say that these look like they will outlast most sets we have. As our other sets fail, we will be replacing them with the Clockwise. Great product.

Expensive Digital Caliper
Unfortunately, not very practical without backlit screen.
