On the Night You Were Born

I bought this and "It's time to sleep, my love" for my little boy (2 years). He listens to them both but hasn't been enthralled right off the bat like I am. I'm sure he'll like them more as I read them more (that's the way he is) and I expect to read them to him for a very long time. Every kid loves to be loved, even when they get older, and I could see reading this to even a second or third grader (I don't have one but my neighbors do). Every time I've read these in the last two days (half a dozen times each, at least) I inevitably tear up (I am pregnant so that could explain the tears as well ;). They are just so sweet. I agree with everyone else that every child should have these books and parents who feel this way about them. I think these books together will be my new baby shower/first birthday gift for every mom I know. I'm giving this five stars because the artwork is beautiful and enchanting (the artwork in "It's time to sleep, my love" is even better) but even more because of the message. There are maybe a couple of places the rhythm of the phrasing is off for me and a couple of the rhymes are a stretch (or non-existent?), but I'll get used to it from reading it more. We've only had it since yesterday. If I had to choose between "On the Night You Were Born" and "It's Time to Sleep, My Love" I'd get both. Okay, if I *really* had to choose, I'd get "It's Time to Sleep, My Love" because the phrasing is exquisite, the rhymes almost perfect, the artwork is breathtaking, and the message of love is just as strong. I'd say "On the Night You Were Born" is a really sweet book about the uniqueness of a child. "It's time to sleep, my love" is a lullaby of love.

Great book for first time parents. Good baby shower gift.

I Absolutely Love This Book!! This book is an amazing addition to any collection of books to read to your little ones!! It's beautifully written, the pages are nice and thick, and the illustration is done beautifully also. Such a heartwarming book! "On the night you were born, the moon smiled with such wonder, that the night wind whispered, life will never be the same; because there has never been a you, ever, in the world. So enchanted with you, were the wind and the rain, that they whispered the sound of your beautiful name." Although I could write the story for you, I'd say just buy it, you won't be disappointed!!

The sweetest book for an arriving little one. I first read it in the NICU after my daughter was born and it just felt true to how we felt. I definitely recommend for anyone having a baby, you need this one in your baby’s book nook .

This book is excellent for children of all ages (the first time I read it to my granddaughter I shed a few tears it is so touching). It was always the first book she chose when we sat down to read. This particular copy is made of heavy cardboard and is well bound for years of reading pleasure. Each page is laminated with high quality glossy paper that can be wiped with a damp cloth if needed. The format is easy for children to follow as it has rhymes and the animations are bright and well done. The book talks about the uniqueness of the child and how there has never been anyone like them ever on earth. Additionally, the animations lend themselves to encourage children to use their imagination and make up their own story as they flip through the pages. I purchased this copy for my great-granddaughter who will arrive in August. I can't wait to spend hours reading it with her and challenging her to use her imagination as we see the animals come to life on the pages of the book. Well worth the money and pleasure it brings to both the reader and your precious child.

I bought this book as a gift for a first-time Grandmother, so she will have it at her home to read to her grandson. The content is thoughtful and loving.

Beautiful books that are perfect for anyone having a baby!

This book will always have a special place in our hearts. A family friend gave it to my daughter when she was little, and it quickly became one of our favorite bedtime stories.
