MOVIE THEATRE SOUND IN YOUR HOME
After a few weeks of research, I upgraded from a Klipsch system to The Definitive Technology (DT) 9040 series towers and center channel speaker system. I’m also using their Promonitor 800 series speakers for rear surrounds. Klipsch is good, real good but DT takes movie experiences to a whole different level as far as sound. Just by the way the speakers are packaged, I could see that they are a high quality product. The speakers are beautifully constructed. The 9000 series is a passive speaker system. You will need an amp or a receiver for them to produce sound. The center channel speaker is big. About the size of a thick briefcase.I posted a pic of it along side my Promonitor 800s so you can see just how much room it takes up. As big as the center channel speaker is, the sound it produces is much bigger. Clear and clean sound from Footsteps and whispers to broken glass hitting the floor, the 9040 center channel never misses a beat. The 9040 towers are amazing. They have 8” powered subwoofers built in so an electrical outlet Is needed to power them up. The rear panel has a volume knob for the subs and do very well on their own. You can also connect the subs to your receiver via sub output from your receiver to the LFE input in the 9040 tower to better adjust the bass to your taste but they really do very well on their own. There are two sets of speaker terminal posts. The top set is for the A90 Atmos speakers that attach to the top of the towers by simply removing the top brushed aluminum plate. The lower speaker terminal are for Non Atmos connection. The towers sound absolutely incredible. I have the sub volume on both just under the half way point and it gives such a rumble. It’s a mature bass not muddy. The tower tops produce such a clean and clear sound that along with the center channel speaker, they fill my 14 x 26 living room without a struggle. With each tower having its own sub, sound is now evenly distributed through out the room. From whispers and fight scenes to thunderous explosions & bullet casings hitting the floor, the DT 9040 series creates each sound the way it was meant to be heard. I was told that when they break in, they will sound even better. Can’t imagine how much better because it sounds like a movie theatre in my house. I’m running the 9040s on my Sony DH 790 receiver. Was it expensive? YES it certainly was. Was it worth it? YES it certainly was. If you want a high quality sound system that gives you a movie theatre experience in your home then Definitive Technology 9000 series is what you want.

Great Product with even better customer service
I purchased a pair of these back in 2018 and have been using them everyday since. These speakers have an amazing range of sound and provide a immersive sound stage I couldn't be happier with the sounds quality and craftmanship of these speakers. But what made me write this review is the fact that 6 years later I had an issue with the amp powering the subwoofer of one unit and even though the speaker was outside of the warranty timeframe definitive technology still helped me out and sent me a replacement amp at no charge. Definitive Technology makes great products but more importantly they have outstanding customer service that stands by their products!

Clean, open sound and real bass.
I purchased two of these along with A90 height modules and a CS-9040 to upgrade our home theater system. (I had some smaller Definitive Technology speakers wall mounted, used in conjunction with an older JBL subwoofer). After giving them some time to acclimate, I must say the sound is a huge improvement. Audio presence, imaging, and clarity are off the charts in our medium-sized living room, and the bass is strong and clean (I have the subs turned about to medium and haven't yet fine-tuned the audio to the room). Around $1,000 per tower (including the modules) is more than I've spent in the past, but I consider it worth it. I can't say if Definitive Technology speakers are the best value for the money, but I like the look and sound and the company has an excellent reputation.

Outstanding home theater speakers
This Definitive Technology lineup shines for home theater and video game use as they're bipolar and serve to really fill the room with sound. I use four of these along with the CS9060 center, no dedicated subwoofer but you can always use one if you want. These create a very immersive field of sound, and you can tune the crossover to your liking. Not my first choice for music but my first choice for home theater/gaming. Note they're not very sensitive, A/V receivers won't quite get the most out of them. The A90 addon speakers make a wonderful improvement in Dolby Atmos content. Also note the price fluctuates on here a lot, so keep that in mind and try to buy when the price is down.

Just small things
I am very happy with the sound of my new speakers. There were only two small problems, one was that there were no threads in one of the locking nut for the legs, see picture , and the plug-in on the back of the speaker will fall out I have to tape it on in order to keep it plugged in, the other picture. Otherwise I am very happy with the speakers so far. They look fantastic and they sound even better. I am very pleased with the purchase
