I bought these to ensure that we have some type of emergency lighting in the event of power outages. I decided to try these out after having so many failures with the rechargeable LED bulbs that we had placed throughout our house. Those bulbs seem to be short lived, with either the battery not holding charge or the bulb itself going bad. We've also had a number of instances where the bulbs do not light up when power is out. These little flashlights are actually smaller than I envisioned, which makes me happy. They plug into the outlet and as long as you ensure that the switch is in the 'ON' position, they will light up when the power goes out. You can also grab one and use it to find your way around in the dark; since it is already lit up it makes it very easy to find. While the 40-lumen output is not super-bright, it is more than enough to light up a room sufficiently to see your way around in the dark and makes it very easy, safe, and convenient to find your emergency supplies, which for us include our larger and brighter flashlights, lanterns, and power banks. These say they'll last around three hours, which is very good. I placed these around the house in key areas where it will be good to have some light, like stairways, hallways outside bedrooms, living room, garage, etc. One of the best things (for me) about these is that they do not have a night light feature. I just want them to stay plugged in and only provide light if the power goes out. It's hard to find these without the night light, so these are great. After buying an initial six-pack, I liked them enough to buy an additional pack and I believe I now have nine of these around our house. I'll probably give the other three to family. The only slight negatives I can think of is that they have a very bright red light on the front that is on all the time whenever they're plugged in and have power. You can see it a mile away, which may annoy some people. I would have preferred it be less bright but can live with it. The only other thing is that one out of the 12 lights I got the case was slightly separating on the lower-right side, as in I could pull the front and back pieces open slightly. At first, I thought that maybe the screen boss inside was broken but found that the screw simply was not tightened. Upon tightening that screw, the case is completely secure. Maybe someone just missed a step during assembly, but glad it was just that and not actually broken. All things considered, I am very happy with this product. Time will tell if the batteries hold up over the years. Also, I've checked every one of these over the past few days and none of them got hot, or even warm at all. I was concerned because one reviewer stated that all of his melted but also indicated that he was using them in an ambulance? Wondering if the inverter in the vehicle could have been the cause or maybe these just don't react the same to it verses regular AC utility power. At any rate, no problems at all with ours thus far.

We’ve been having frequent power surges and more than the usual power outages recently, so these were ideal for me. I live alone and placed them in my covered outdoor garage and bedroom, and I also shared some with my elderly mom who lives separately. The light is bright and gives a real sense of comfort in the darkness. I especially love that they are portable, so they can be moved wherever they are needed. Very practical and reassuring to have on hand.

These work well and are really convenient, but be aware that the advertising implies that they have a night-light functionality that they do not actually have. Otherwise, it's really useful to have an emergency light that comes on when the power goes out and it is nice to have a fully charged flashlight handy without having to dig through a drawer.

Got these after a few power outages at my new place (of course the power hasn't gone out since) but at least now I have them. I have actually used one of them a few times simply as a flashlight so that's handy. For those looking for the finer details on how it works... If it's unplugged the switch works as expected, flip it on or off to turn the flashlight on or off. If it's plugged in it will charge but if the switch is off it will NOT turn on as an emergency light, if the switch is on and it's plugged in the light will be off but will turn on in a power outage. So, the switch needs to be on (which turns the flashlight on) then plug it in (which will shut the flashlight off) but it will come on during a power outage. The red LED is basically a "wall power" indicator, regardless if you have the switch on or off, if it's plugged in and has power the red LED will be on - this is kind of a con if you want one in the bedroom there will always be that red light, so maybe find an outlet around a corner or something if that bugs you. The red LED isn't overly bright, but it's certainly not dim. Details on the flashlight part itself... The light beam isn't really focused so it's just kind of a splash of light, which in a sense is it's primary purpose so that's okay. But, if used as a flashlight, it works great to light an area if you're digging through a closet or something but don't expect great range. Overall I expect it to serve it's purpose in a power outage. Not the best flashlight for flashlight's sake, but that's not it's main purpose. I'd say it's a bit brighter than most standard nightlights with the advantage of being off otherwise, so in a power outage situation it should be great for basic decent light (a single unit lights a 20' x 30' room plenty).

These worked as expected. The power went out and they snapped on right away. One qas not charged when it arrived, but charged up fine.
