Fury 703 SF is an Excellent Rod -
Was torn between a Fury 702SF or 703SF. I bank fish and run 3 setups, 2 casting (Fury 703C and 704C) and like to also have one Spinning. My main lures for the spinning rod are Senkos (tx and wacky rig)and Ned rig, so I wanted a rod that could do both. Went with the 703SF, third cast had my PB 4.5lb Largemouth just crush a TRD on a 1/10 shroomz jig head. This rod is truly a great all-purpose spinning rod, I was able to decently cast 1/15 oz ned jigs with the soft tip and it also has plenty of backbone to pull a texposed hook through a plastic worm for a solid hookset. If you want a high quality all purpose spinning rod that won't break the bank, hard to go wrong with a Fury 703SF. One note, I bought my 703C through Amazon from American Legacy and it came triple-bubble wrapped in a rock-solid cardboard tube, just excellent packaging. I bought the 703SF shipped by Amazon, it came in a thin box with no internal protection. When I saw the mailman pull it out of his truck with the box all creased up I was certain it would be broken, but I got lucky and it was fine. Granted it is free returns with Prime, but for the $1 more that I paid for the purchase from American Legacy I would use them every single time I had a choice just for the peace of mind that the rod won't be broken in transit.

Broken Guide
I know the rod is amazing and was excited to use it this weekend BUT upon arrival a guide was cracked/loose-- there was a tube protector over the 1st two guides from the top-- removing it, I immediately noticed the 2nd from top guide being straight instead of slightly angled-- upon inspection, the glue/whatever is used for guides was cracked away from the rod itself. Ugh :( 4 stars otherwise because I know the rods are the real deal.

1 word: Wow!
Ordering from amazon I was a little worried about forking out the money for a rod and worried about shipping damage. Amazon alleviated all my worries when I receive my package there was two rectangle boxes taped together to a count for the 7 feet of rod. Inside of that box combination, was a large PVC pipe with the end cap taped down. Inside of this was a heavily bubble wrapped rod with all the eyelets protected and not a scratch on it! Upon checking this rod out was wondering wow it would compare to their Savvy series or champion series... This rod still holds its own, with an amazing balance, and remarkable sensitivity. Running 10lb braided line you can literally feel every touch walking a Texas rig, or drop shop down the surface of the ground. Still has plenty of action to feel the difference in a bite as well as being able to set the hook easily. This is my first personal Dobyns rod that I get to add to my collection of Shimano, and St. Crioux Triumph X series, and this rod has become my instant favorite. This Fury was easily was able to help me improve my finesse techniques to land fish. Highly recommend this product! What are you waiting for? Buy it already!

Extremely poor packaging!
Rod is awesome and well worth the price. The rod is 5 stars. One star is for the totally substandard packaging from Amazon. It was simply put in a thin cardboard box with no additional reinforcement. Many guides were bent. I will get more Dobbyns rods....But not from Amazon!

Defective
Poor fit and finish. I received a damaged rod, that also had flaws and defects that should have been caught by Quality Control. Gaps in cork handle, cork not flush with reel seats, cracked butt cap that fell out in the box, and two broken guides. I returned the rod yesterday and although I want this as a back up rod, I'm hesitant to order again amd will stick with St. Croix and G.Loomis

Pro model, as used by pro bass fisherman .
Hired a pro fishing guide this summer and this was the rod he used. Bought this rod for my son for a x- mas gift. Great feel and couldnโt tell the difference between this rod and Bass Pro model that is twice the cost.

Perfect rod for all your finesse applications
This rod has plenty back bone, a fast tip and will cover every finesse tactic you can think of: dropshot, ned rig, split shots, little crank/jerkbaits, 1/4oz jigs, and just about any texas rig you can think of. This is not a heavy cover rod, I wouldn't cast your bait into the thick stuff. All Dobyns rods run about a 1/2 power, lighter than other rods. So this is more in between a medium and medium light, but it does have backbone. The handle is 12-1/4" long, which might be short for folks with big hands. This is my 2nd Dobyns Fury, buy with confidence as these are shipped from Dobyns > Amazon (Boston warehouse) > Amazon.ca (Mississauga warehouse). I've kept the tube so I have pics to prove it. The rod came in a THICK cardboard tube, stapled shut with PVC style caps, bubble wrapped in 5 sections (tip, handle, last guide closest to the reel seat and 2 spots in between), with a cellophane sleeve underneath the bubble wrap.

Dobyns 7 foot medium
Haven't had a chance to fish with it yet so can't really give an honest review but first impression is that it's a good quality rod but I would like the handle to be a bit longer. That is probably my only complaint hence the 4 stars. It was shipped in a rod tube and came in perfect condition. I wouldn't be worried about getting a damaged rod with the packaging it came in.

7Ft Medium Version of the Dobyns Fury
Overall I'm happy with my purchase. Haven't fished with it yet but my buddies got one so I was lucky enough to see one before I took the plunge. Its a medium rod but appears to have high sensitivity so I'm gonna assume this will be great for finesse situations. For the price range you really can't go wrong only 3-4 other rods In the price range that are similar for what's available in my area anyways. I don't know what people are talking about though with it arriving in a cardboard tube. Mine came in a flattened cardboard box and I was skeptical when opening it curious as to what kind of condition it would be in. My buddy ordered this rod and it came 3 times with the tip snapped off luckily mine was mint. My only complaint about the rod itself is it has the WORST location for the little ring where you hook your bait. Basically it's right where you'd go to grab your rod with your hand. Super stupid design. Not a deal breaker but why design such a nice rod and than do something like that.
