I was honestly a little scared to try an epilator for the first time. I had always shaved, but I was getting tired of how quickly the hair would grow back sometimes in just a day or two. I wanted something that was better for my skin and would last longer, so after seeing a lot of positive reviews about the Philips Epilator Series 8000, I decided to go for it.At first, it was a little painful, especially on more sensitive areas like the underarms. But I had already read that it would get easier, and it’s true after a few passes, I got used to it. The device is easy to handle, and I love that it comes with different attachments, which made the whole experience more comfortable.I used it on my underarms and legs, and I was genuinely shocked at how smooth my skin felt afterward. It’s been several days and there’s still no hair, which is something I’ve never experienced with shaving. Does this hurt? HECK YEAH IT DOES. It literally rips your hair out. Like plucking. I got it for my armpits because I was sick of not having a smooth shave. I can’t afford laser and I didn’t want to get waxed or buy wax. I’m looking for a cost effective solution. The first time I used this it took some deep breathing and I had to use it in sessions. Don’t go fast to get it over with. It’ll break the hairs. Give it time. It took me 2-3 days to finish both armpits 🤣 I’m a baby. The second armpit I did in the shower because this epilator is water proof. I did later learn NOT to use this on your period (oops) apparently that makes it hurt more. I was thrilled with the results because I finally have NO armpit hair. I’ve touched it up since a few times and it doesn’t hurt nearly as much the first time I did it. So I’m glad I got this. I also used it on my feet and toes because I’m really hairy. I hope one day I can use it on my legs but again. It hurts so bad and apparently I’m a wimp. Some say they use it on their bikini area. I’m not sure if I’ll ever be that brave. But for the armpits alone. I’m sold.

I have very course hair on my legs that I have to shave daily. Love this razor for closeness of shave on dry skin only. Although this may be used in or out of shower as stated, the only close shave I got was dry shave.I’ve tried other brands at even a higher cost, even grew the hair out a bit to judge accurately and this one wins for dry shave. I would give 5 stars if I was able to use this in the shower.

I’ve been epilating for years. My last three have been the emjoi with 72 tweezers, so two rollers of tweezers. I couldnt find it again to purchase when my last one broke and started looking at others and reviews. When it comes to the pain of epilation that is very subjective! It still stings some but I don’t find it painful anymore. I’ve just got used to it over time. It’s definitely better when the hair is shorter. Maybe 1/8 of a inch or a little more and make sure you’ve had a hot shower. It opens the pores up more. Plus put some kind of powder (baby powder) on the area you’re epilating. It makes the skin smoother for the epilater to glide on and it can show the hairs a little more. Anyway, I decided to try this phillips and I love it. I’ve only used it once so I’m not sure about the life of it. The emjoi only lasted a year to year and a half before it started messing up. But I love that it is cordless! It made the process better for me to maneuver when doing the bikini area and I do a full brazilian.I liked having just the one roller of tweezers. It made getting in there more effective and faster actually versus that bigger emjoi.I liked that it is lightweight and feels good in your hand. Something I was apprehensive about buying a cordless model was the battery strength and longevity. But it lasted through my brazilian and under my arms without losing any power. It was consistent throughout. Like I said , I’ve only used it once so only time will tell. I’ll update in a few months. I also liked that you can rinse the head off under water. I dont like epilating in the shower though. It’s a smoother process with powder. Also, when you take your hot shower beforehand, don’t forget to exfoliate. It helps. I also like to use “FUR” oil for ingrown hair right afterwards and everyday to prevent ingrowns, at least for the bikini area. Keeping the skin hydrated and supple allows the hair to push through better.
