Works well. just the right replacement!
I had to replace the busted plastic gear for my liftmaster. this thing fit perfectly and I had no problem install it. works right away after I put everything back together and saved me a lot of money and time for buying and installing a new one.

Easy to install and worked great on my 1999 model
Only the main gear was in bad shape on mine, so I only replaced the main shaft part with the one main gear and one smaller gear at the end. It slips right in then you put the small gear in and use the provided clip to lock it in, just like the original.Don't worry about what others have said about needing to tap threads. That's going overboard and you absolutely don't need a tap and die set to do this replacement. The bolts will simply cut their own threads as you drive it in.

Product works but you have to be very careful while fixing!!!
I received the order last week, which came with both the drive gear and worm gear as well as bushings and grease. My garage door openers is old; it is a Liftmaster 2255. The main issue was with the 'drive gear', but having also the worm gear, I decided to replace it, too, which was too hard! The original bushings in the motor shaft did not come off easily. I had to use pliers, hammer, etc to remove them. When I tried to insert the 'bearing', I broke it. It did not go easily on the motor shaft, thus I used force which was a mistake. I contacted the seller as well as amazon, and they were very helpful. The second set came, and I installed the parts successfully. The sold set perfectly fits my garage door opener, but I have to highlight that the installation was time consuming and hard. Nevertheless, I can now say that I know the details of "garage door openers"! Some hints:- The parts are perfect fit, but know that there are two types of garage door openers these parts fit. I had to get the diagram from the seller to properly install the 'worm gear' my opener.- This is a hard project for anyone who has not done anything similar. You need the tools and time. There are several videos in youtube describing the steps and what to expect. Make sure you watch several of them. They are very useful! In fact, if those were somehow included in the descriptions, it could have helped a lot (or a movie by the seller or a buyer describing all the tiny details).- The 'worm gear' installation part was not easy especially removal and installation of bushings. In fact, I saw one video by -I think- Sears or Lowes, saying that you have to file the motor shaft in order to easily slide in the bushings (as well as the worm gear). Another person also noted the same thing online, which was indeed the solution to my problem. I used a sandpaper to clean up the motor shaft on several location. This is not noted in any document except in those videos. Once done, I could easily slide the 'bearing' into the motor shaft (after lubrication). Lubrication by itself won't work. I had to file the shaft.- Another issue I observed was with the 'limit gear'. After successful installation, the door was not opening all the way up although I set the limits to maximum. It seems that the 'limit gear' has to be adjusted so that you can set the min/max of garage door. Again, these small details are not anywhere in the document sent; thus, I had to find solutions online. In this case, I observed the limit gear by eye while opening the garage door. Once I saw the issue, I removed the limit gear, set the limit gear to the middle so that maximum opening/closing can be done. Somehow, the limits on the limit gear was messed up.- There were other issues, too. So, do not assume the above ones are the only ones I observed. This is not an easy job, but for those who likes solving problems, this is a good puzzle; at least for me it was a hard puzzle. Make sure to unplug electricity before working on the opener!!!

Good fix
Worked fine good product don't listen to the negative reviews this is not cheap aluminum.Solid steel shaft and sprocket. If you do it correctly works good. Yes it did have brief instructions.Took about 1 1/2 hrs chain popped off because I didn't have the wire cable threaded thru the pulley near the door. Make sure you have the motor in the right position before you attach the chain. Full Clockwise rotation is all the way down press button or remote to test prior.Yes you do have to tap or enlarge the screw holes for the top plate they are too small for the original screws or just use a self tapper that fits the holes.

From a professional
I’m in the overhead door industry and these come in handy, especially for the price. This gear assembly is almost exactly as the ones I buy from the distributor but this is more cost effective. They’re just as durable so I feel comfortable installing them. These are easy to replace and as described

Replacement parts I didn’t think they still made!
I have a 30 year old Craftsman Garage Door Opener and I didn’t think I could get parts for it anymore. This one fits perfectly and works great. Simple fix really and a lot cheaper than having to buy a brand new unit! Very pleased.
