Saitama on the sidelines is 100% intentional, that is why the story is so fun
A fantastic addition to the One Punch Man story. I am mainly writing this as a response to some earlier reviews which criticised the fact that Saitama is kept on the sidelines for so long. Given that we are now 23 volumes in, I would have thought that people now understood the formula. Saitama has to remain on the sidelines, because Saitama always wins. Not only that, he always wins effortlessly. The entire reason the other, weaker characters exist is to create some drama. They could conceivably lose, whereas Saitama cannot. If Saitama were constantly front and centre, the comic would be unbearably dull. Saitama fighting is a once in a while treat. One (the writer) knows what he is doing. Just enjoy the ride.P.S. I happen to really like Child Emperor, and indeed the vast majority of the secondary characters.

A fantastic series
The art and story are great as they always are in One Punch Man, and Murata seems to get better at drawing with ever volume! The book came in great condition, and it looks fantastic on the bookshelf while it waits to be read a second time.

Action across a broader spectrum -- at last!
No eighty-page fights this time. We get to see what's happening with a greater number of the heroes who have ventured underground, and about time, too! Atomic Samurai's three disciples and the rescued mercenaries are trying to make their way back out of the maze, despite some friction between the two groups. (And a character I thought was female turns out to be male, gay, and a cross-dresser. Well, who can catch every little detail!?) Atomic Samurai himself handily disposes of a couple of formidable opponents, but runs into difficulty when he encounters the small, but powerful and endlessly multiplying, Black Spermatozoan. One-Punch Man sees Child Emperor and the rescued hostage Waganma safely to the surface -- of course he gets no credit or thanks, and Child Emperor thinks HE rescued ONE-PUNCH -- and is on his way back down to where the action is. Zombieman's next battle is with Homeless Emperor, and the unkillable one looks to be in a serious mismatch and tough spot -- at this point, Homeless Emperor appears to be the single most powerful individual on the monster side. Puri-Puri Prisoner is besieged by a whole bevy of monsters, including his monsterized former prison-mates and Nyaan the cat. Superalloy Blackluster faces off with Insect God. Pig God evidently disposed of Big Eater with little difficulty, but he's ambushed by his monster equivalent, Gums, and the result is ... gross. We still know nothing about how Tornado might be faring or who her picked opponent might be -- maybe Gyoro-Gyoro him/herself? When is Garo going to wake up and rejoin the action? When do we find out what happened with Drive Knight? And Amai Mask only appears this book in the short bonus story at the end -- where it's demonstrated in yet one more detail that there's something weird about him, which will hopefully be the subject of some future episode.Author ONE continues with the motif that a traumatic brush with near death results in explosive growth and evolution of powers. Of course in real life it's pretty much the opposite of that but, hey, OK, it's a comic book. Just don't try this at home.So far in this series it's been "monsters die, heroes and humans don't", but the current story arc seems to be severely testing that rule. If it holds true, it would mean Homeless Emperor can't be killed, because he's a superpowered human rather than a true monster ...Looking forward to #24! (But -- !! -- looks like we're going to have to wait a YEAR for it !?! ... gosh, it was so cool when I had just discovered OPM, and could read the books as fast as I could acquire them ...)
