The Sacred Search: Updated & Revised Paperback – April 1, 2021

If you are looking for a hard hitting book to unfold your feelings on Christian dating and marriage...this is definitely the book for you. This book will really expose any weak points in past, present or future relationships. At times this book is humorous and lighthearted but always has a point. As a 29 male I was surprised how well this author intuitively cut through the different patterns and pitfalls in modern American dating. I also give him points for a non judgemental point of view with many tactics to solving potential problems with a would be spouse or search for a spouse. The editor also deserves commendation for how readable and broadly applicable the content is while still seeming current. I see this as particularly useful book for people considering engagement. I think it has most use with serious dater, post-college age group and up, but perhaps deserves consideration by those younger considering serious relationships. The author does a good job offering biblical support for his positions and most people from mainline protestant and Roman Catholic traditions will find familiar interpretations. I cant wait to put to use the concepts I learned with the next person I meet. Hang on tight....this writing is more mature than you are.

Such a great book! A lot of the concepts were ones I have thought of in preparation for marriage already. (Single girl, looking for the right guy.)And it has given me a better perspective for how to approach dating and finding the kind of guy I am looking for. 100% recommend this book for anyone who is single, dating, or engaged to be married!

This book has so much good information and lessons in it! It gave me a new perspective on God's design for an honoring dating relationship and marriage that's seeking after Him. We are to- '...seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.' Matthew 6:33. Following after the Lord should be our greatest desire... not trying to find someone that makes us temporary happiness and fulfills our earthly desires. This book pointed me to a godly focus on dating and honoring God with my life.We need to be complete in Jesus... getting married should never complete us but instead add to who we are as a servant of the Lord. A godly marriage is two people striving on the same mission for Christ. Growing spiritually stronger and closer to God with your spouse is what will strengthen your marriage.I learned that it is very important when dating to keep yourself pure.. regardless of what infatuation may be telling you to do. Never base a decision off of your emotions just because it may feel right. Honoring God brings so much more joy than temporarily satisfying earthly desires ever could.

Sacred Search is an excellent and Biblical source for singles to find guidance in their search for a mate. I wish I had read it before my troubled 47 year marriage, but now I have an opportunity to follow this wisdom the second time around.

The book is filled with great advice for seeking Christians. Still, it's filled with premarital advice that, in my opinion, is best reserved for private counseling. Biblical and Christ-centered as well.

4.5 stars rounded upMy, my, my.This book was almost FLAWLESS in the way it discussed singleness, dating (even though I’m not a fan of that word), and looking for a potential spouse.Things I loved:- Short chapters- Practical examples- Discussion questions that are both approachable & make you think- Listening to the audio (Gary narrates it) alongside the Kindle versionIf there were mentions of single people who want to get married but don’t want children and I didn’t have a bone to pick with a part in one of the chapters towards the end, this book would have been perfect.

Such a good read - in my 30s and wish i would have found this sooner but still very much very eye opening and healing
