Adorable Children's Book
I purchased this book as a replacement for an old, very worn version that my mom had found used years ago (pictures colored over with crayons and missing one). It is such a sweet story with adorable pictures (and it was nice to finally see what the last picture was). The story teaches good lessons of both hard work and giving generously to others. The boys don't seem to have any problems taking turns doing things and all have good personalities. The best part of this book is that the three different jobs that the boys get end up turning their blue outfits into red, black, and white. My 4-year-old nephew has such fun when we quiz him about which boy turned red (Snipp), black (Snapp), and white (Snurr). My nephew also loves the vivid drawings and enjoys the characters of Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr. The only thing that I wish was not in this book is that the miller is seen "smoking his longest pipe", both in the text and the picture. This was a normal thing back when the book was written, but it is a bit hard to explain to a 4-year-old that smoking pipes is not a healthy habit to be imitating.Overall, this book is a winner! Very fun and sweet. :)

Classic Readaloud
I have carried the picture on this covetr all my life from a tattered copy handed down by older siblings born in the 1940s. This series from the 1930s are great for readalouds to little ones and for beginning readers age 6 and up. Looking forward to sharing with my grandchildren.

An Oldie But a Goodie
This title is a vintage delight about 3 sons earning money for their mother's birthday present. I found as I read it's pages that the story line captivated my children and gave them a wonderful vision as well. Despite it older copyright, this book should remain on our best-loved reading list.

Kids loved it
My son told me he loved the book and asked if we could “give it all the stars.” We’ve read the gingerbread book from the same series and both kids loved the books.
