A must for the ice
I used these on pavements that were covered in ice for walking. They are a bit hard to get on the shoe initially as they need to be stretched quite a bit, but I assume that the stretch is needed to stop them coming off or loosening. Well worth the effort though as they are great, no slipping and easy to walk in.

A Good Buy
These ice grippers work brilliantly on ice and hard snow - you can walk almost normally, just take a little care. There are a couple of drawbacks however...they are a very tight fit if you buy an up-to size 8 fitting, they are really a bit too tight for an 8 shoe and difficult to put on. The larger size is a little too large as the rear spikes can slip over the back of the heel, but are wearable with a little care. It is best to fit them to a stiff shoe permanently and carry a spare pair to change into "off piste". In normal conditions, you can be walking on ice, then a thawed area, then ice again, and it's not really practical to keep changing shoes...just proceed carefully on short stretches of tarmac and accept that the spikes will wear out regularly - they are replaceable it seems. They are well worth the money if they stop you falling on ice even once, and they will! It's quite amusing to watch other folk sliding around while you stride out confidently. I recommend them to anyone, especially the elderly.

pavement crampons
I bought these for my dad to stop him slipping in the icy weather because he refuses to stay indoors (parents can be so frustrating...)The Ice Runners are very good quality in comparison with some of the other different makes that we bought to try. They fit snugly on his boots and didn't slip off. He's a size 9 shoe and I bought the large size. He's only had to use them once since we didn't receive them until after the worst of the weather. He said he had to walk on the grass instead of the pavement because the black ice wasn't deep enough for the studs to grip into but he feels sure they will be excellent in snow or compacted ice.

ice runner snow and ice grips
Brilliant is an understatement, these grips do EXACTLY what they say they do, it doesnt matter how hard you try , you wont slip even if its minus 9 and the paths are like an ice rink.....I ordered these 18 days ago..they arrived before expected datei tried them out in the snow and ice and they are brilliant...no slipping or sliding at all, easy to put on shoes or boots and easy to remove... These have Small metal spikes in them FAR better than the ones with plastic studds as the plastic ones tend to fall off..Walking in the snow and ice using these ice runner grips is like normal walking, you feel safe, you dont stiffen your body expecting to fall or slip, great for people with Bad Backs especially,as any sudden slip is painfull beyond belief..A few days after buying these grips i Had spine surgey for a long standing lower back disc problem, I came out of hospital and walked fine across the snow and ice to the hospital car park..Believe me once youve had SPINE SURGERY the last thing you want to do is slip at all.... you walk at a normal walking pace...The only strange feeling with these is when you cross a road or some tarmac where there is NO snow or ice, then you feel like your not walking on the floor,as the spikes are on the tarmac where the soles of your shoes would normally be....But obviously when your on snow and ice the spikes dig in deep enough so your feet feel like they are flat on the floor...A Simple and easy to use product...Pity there is no 10 star Rating...instead of the measly 5 stars i have given them....

Decent and value for money
The rubber on these feels like it will last a long time. The studs are small and flat. The best way to put these on is on the shoe whilst you are not wearing it. Put the front over your shoes toe then pull the back bit over the back of your shoe. It does take a bit of strength to do this as the rubber is really tough.Taking it off is a lot easier. Always go a size larger to be safe it will fit your shoes. The reason for giving it a 4 is the rubber has a lot of dirty marks on it. Not sure if this is how it comes from manufacturing or it’s a return. Other than that these are good well worth the time I took to research getting a decent pair of spikes. Great in ice and now I feel safe walking to work and not worrying about falling

No more slip sliding away
I bought these after the last icy spell, but this is their first real test they have had, week comencing 14/01/2013.I was a bit concerned with the comments in the past reviews about the size issues people were having.I think I can shed a further light on the matter.if you are going to put these on ordinary shoes, trainers or canvas walking boots then I suggest your shoe size, for me that was a size 10 which was the maximum of the 'Large' size shoe range. It's a tight fit, but they stay on.If you are going to put them on working boots (steel toe cap type) ski boots or leather high range walking boots, then I sugestthe minimum of your shoe size, in my case starting at size 10 'Extra Large' range.I found these a little getting use to at first, if you are use to wearing football boots or running spikes you will feel at home with these straight away. I reconmend you do nor wear them on the carpet or laminate floor and take them off before going into a shopping mall, some of the tiles they use can make you slip, oh the irony. They seem to wear well when you leave a snowy/icy pavement to cross a black tarmac road, you sound like 'My Little Pony' though. All in all a good buy,I feel confident walking on snowy/icy pavements. Best I have used and they did not cost a fortune

Might be o. k. for kids but only ...
Might be o.k. for kids but only if shoe is around size 5. I take size 7 to 7.5 shoe and would need to use metal levers and a vice to attempt fitting. Will bin this item and check locally for options. Your size chart obviously not helpful.
