In tune
I loved that this glockenspiel was in tune. I agree with the other reviewers however that the mallet is no good. It chips and breaks so just count on buying a new one. It is also, so far as I can tell, the only reason they say this product isn't for babies. My 6 month old has fun with it so long as I take the mallet away and give him something else to use.

Very nice instrument for toddlers
Really nice product. Just the right size. As a music instructor in the Kodaly tradition, it was important for me to find a specifically pentatonic instrument for my toddler. As far as that goes, the instrument is of good quality. I read some negative reviews concerning the mallet, so I order some additional medium density rubber mallets to use instead. (These have a more pleasant sound for the parents that must endure those moment of intense artistic genius! :) I was worried about the size. The pictures advertised showed the product in comparison to babies and so I had no real certainty of its comparison to a toddler. As it turns out, it is a perfact size for a toddler to use and to carry around. My only critique of the instrument is that it would be more beneficial for toddlers if it were to include the octave of the scale. In C, it includes do re mi so la. But a high do’ can add so much more to the longevity of the instrument’s usefulness. (But again, I am a music educator; I have purposeful sequencing in mind when buying an instrument for my child. As far as artistic expression goes, I much prefer this instrument, for toddlers, than a full, diatonic xylophone. Overall, good product!

I love this little glockenspiel for several reasons
I love this little glockenspiel for several reasons: 1) It's pentatonic, so it's easy on parent's ears and sets kids up for success-based improvisation. 2) The bars do not come off, which is the first thing kids try to do when they get a glockenspiel/xylophone. 3) The design is adorable. What I wish were improved: The paint on the mallet chipped off very easily and was almost all gone after 1 day of use. I really hope the paint is eco friendly because kids want to stick this in their mouths (I mean, it looks like a lolly pop)--why even have it painted? It would be a much better design to have the mallet attach to the instrument as it gets lost very easily.

A wonderful toy! Beautiful sounds, lovely aspect and safe for children too...
I purchased this product for my daughter. I don't have enough words to say how delighted I am about it!First of all for a top quality glockenspiel, such as this one, the price is quite awesome. The product is actually made of natural materials and that is not just a marketing promise. The attention to details is wonderful and you can actually feel that someone considered the product to be designed for children use and built it from this perspective. The shape is very pleasant and attractive, but not only... most important for a parent: It is safe from all points of view! A scale of a glock is made of metal, so the fact that it is well covered prevents the eventual accidents. I left it without problem near my 6 months daughter while I was playing for her and there was no problem. This glock has 5 precision tuned bars in C pentatonic scale, so the sounds that come out of it are amazing and it is not just plain boring sound. People usually purchase xylophones or more advanced glocks, but unfortunately they sound poorly or are too advanced and the child might be discouraged in time instead of being interested to discover the musical options. I think it's very important to stimulate the child gradually towards music and natural sounds. This is a simple instrument that is meant to help grow the self-confidence of a child by its simplicity. And it is very cute! The Poppa Bear Glock is perfect at any age and I definitely recommend it.

Amazon will send you a GLOCKENSPIEL with NO MALLET> TWICE
I liked the bear but I didn't receive a mallet. I looked, my husband looked (there are only so many places to put a mallet). No mallet. The product I received was for a glockenspiel ONLY no mallet - doesn't match the product description. Pretty cheap, if you ask me. I contacted Amazon, for a replacement. STILL NO MALLET. Baby kept one, I returned the other. What a stupid sham.

Cute and good quality instrument
I ordered this and two other items from this company for my grandson's first birthday. 6 months later I am pleased to say that it is still in great shape and it works well so the quality is quite good. The only issue is that the mallet(?) went missing very quickly since it is not attached to the instrument.

Heirloom quality
Such a beautiful, cute toy! We got this for our daughter’s first birthday. She loves it. It makes a nice clear sound when you hit the bars with the mallet. It’s a nice size. It’s substantial but not too big that she can’t carry it around. We just make sure we supervise her when she has the mallet so she doesn’t try running with it and hurting herself. Overall it’s a beautiful, functional toy. We plan on using the attached loop to hang it on her wall since it’s so cute.

Great sound but awful mallet.
I would love to give this toy 5 stars since my son loves to play with it and the sound is excellent. However, within minutes he chipped the paint off the mallet and I found yellow paint chips on the ground everywhere. I would recommend that they simply do not coat the mallet and leave it as a plain wood mallet to avoid this from happening.
