DON’T DO IT!!!!!
I gave it 1 star just to acknowledge the effort that went into creating this product.Look I’m not a guy who turns my nose up to non-alcoholic beverages. I can enjoy a Budweiser Zero or other non-alcoholic beer.So when I saw this product advertised, out of curiosity I bought a bottle. After all why not?Lemme tell you all about this. First off, as soon as you pull the cork out, the aroma is a slap in the face to all bourbons everywhere. It smells like the aftertaste of vomit in your mouth. So right out the gate things weren’t looking good. But I was committed to trying it out so I dug in and prepared myself.I put a large ball in my glass and poured this over it. I let it settle for a few minutes before taking a sip. Oh my god it was bad. I can’t put it any other way. It begins with a familiar oak taste but a second after hitting my tongue, there was that vomit taste again with a prune finish. I had to force it down because I didn’t want to be wasteful.A week later I thought I would give it another try. But after a few sips I gave up. I poured out the glass and poured the rest of the bottle down the sink. The whole kitchen smelled like vomit and prunes for about a half hour afterward.I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone. If you’re looking for a non-alcoholic bourbon, this ain’t it. In fact you may just have to face reality. Because I have zero faith in these products now.I’ll be sticking with the real thing and only the real thing from now on. I had hoped to dabble with creating a non-alcoholic Old Fashioned with this, but I think I’ll go back to experimenting with iced tea to find that proper fix.And I’ll stick with my Woodford, Buffalo Trace, and Bulleitt for myself.I normally don’t leave reviews for products on here. I just buy my stuff and mind my own business. But I can’t in good conscience stay silent. If you’re reading this, trust me. It’s not worth it.Find something else.

As close as you can get for a 0%
Very good for a liquor substitute, whether to reduce real alcohol consumption or save on calories. Tastes just like an okay-bourbon. The capsaicin simulates the alcohol burn well, but lingers in your throat longer than real bourbon. Has a slight smokey/charred taste like a real bourbon. I recommend drinking it neat with a non-water frozen cube (to prevent dilution). I also added a little bit of real bitters to mine and that helped too.I’d be lying if I said 1:1 but the only thing that can taste like alcohol is real alcohol, which this is not. I hope they continue to improve their non-alc spirits and I will buy more someday!

WHY IS IT THICK!?!?!?
Been drinking Free Spirits products for a couple years now. Looked for an alternative to alcohol during COVID just to cut back a little since consumption increased. Had I reviewed the Spirit of Bourbon a year ago the rating would have been at least 3 stars. The last time I ordered the consistency was thin, like water and while the flavor, to a bourbon drinker isn't close as mentioned the purpose was to avoid 12 steps, it served a purpose and I was fine with it. Rate this as if its a bourbon and forget it, stars should not be involved but if you can separate yourself from the fact that this is at least an alternative and was a rather pleasant way to enjoy something flavorful that isn't a soft drink with tons of sugar or a boring flavored seltzer you can get past it and drink it straight. In a mocktail it's fine. Now for whatever reason and without warning the recipe changed, it's thick, as in viscous, very bizzare, not at all appealing when drinking it straight and can't imagine what it would do to a cocktail. NOT A FAN!! If anyone from Free Spirits is looking at these, please, PLEASE! DO NOT DO WHATEVER YOU DID TO THE BOURBON TO THE GIN!

TOO PEPPERY
Doesn't taste much like bourbon. Way too peppery. Bothered my throat. I'm still looking for a non-alcoholic bourbon that tastes like bourbon. For those of you also looking for good tasting non-alcoholic drinks, I have found a non-alcoholic wine that tastes and satisfies like wine: Fre Chardonnay is excellent; Fre Sparkling Brut is very good; Fre Blended Red is good. Friends and relatives agree. Please share if you find a good bourbon substitute.

No, just no!
This stuff was not tasty!! My husband and I both, wanting to cut down on alcohol intake, had high hopes that this nonalcoholic Bourbon would at least taste decent. But sadly, no! The smell was so off, and the taste was not any better (even after chilling for a few days!)I'm usually not that critical about different tastes but there was just no way that I would have even taken a second sip; not to mention, my husband and I both had that off taste in the back of our throats for about a half hour. I don't know how to describe the taste other than to say it tasted like the bourbon had soured! It came packaged great; and the bottle looked exactly like what was pictured, but aside from that, it was basically unpalatable.I have never left a review, good or bad on Amazon, but this product was just NOT worth what we paid for it!**Edit to add that this Company's Customer Service is Top-notch!! I gave this review 2 more stars because great Customer Service goes A LONG WAY in my book, you just don't get good customer service that often these days! Anyway, Free Spirits offered me a full refund which I appreciate so much!!Thank you to Customer Service Rep, Jon, for awesome customer service, it's obvious that Free Spirits care about their customers and are working hard to improve the taste and quality of the products you produce!
